yes you should get a groth scan hun but may not talk to anyone i was having them weekly from 30 weeks but just had the scan and went home they phoned if they needed me
Depends on the hospital policy - I was sent in by my community mw for a growth scan as she was concerned I was having a big baby and the hospital wouldn't do it.
They said there was a 15% error margin ad they wouldn't do anything even if it was big. I would only know if I would manage a big baby with what they call "trial of delivery"
Although I do know of others on here who have had regular scans!!
I have to go in because my bmi is 36, don't know why really cos i don't know any one else whos had to go in, also i didn't have to when i was having Aimee and i was the exact same weight them. Aimee was quite a big baby and this one is measuring a few weeks ahead of what he should be so i don't mind going in.
yeah I was initially refered becasue of an increased BMI - they say your more at risk for diabetes and BP issues.... but if this is your second and you had no probs previous then there should be no problems...
I have found the consultants at my hopsital to be a total waste of space... and I would have been better off listening to my MW....
Good luck for your appointment though I hope it goes well for you.
Well i never got a scan I got moaned at cos there was hardly anything written in my notes till i explained i had only had 3 mw appointments up to now and that i hadn't missed any) Anyway she said baby feels a normal size, phew! I'm measuring 36 so thats ok. Good news is hes head down now, well down she said. No wonder i anyways need the toilet! Not got to go back now till 1st of Feb when i'll be over due so hopefully he'll be here by then.
Glad things went well with your consultant and sorry you didn't get a scan...
I know that my MW has said that if you are on your second or third baby they " leave you to it!" but I still think this is shocking - so much can change in such a short period of time - even if you have had 3 pregnancies not all are the same!!!
You don't see them so much when it's not your first I was told. Only seen mine once, seeing her again at 24 weeks then hospital at 28, not sure after that.
