Did you have to stay in a few hours, days, weeks?

also, how long can you have people stay with you for, i HATE hospitals (blame Silent Hill the game  ) and im petrified of being left there on my own, i want OH with me ALL the time, and if i have to stay over - can he stay with me?? there is no way i will stay in hospital OVERNIGHT on my own!

After Lucy was born I was in for 3 nights but I had a section so had to stay in more than if I'd had a vaginal delivery. As far as I know the minimum recommended stay is 6 hours but that all depends on your delivery.

As for people staying, at our hospital my OH could visit from 8am till 9pm everyday. That was on the main ward and they didn't allow over-night stays but it is probably different if you are in your own room.

i was in 3 nights, but that was because of my blood pressure. OH wasnt allowed to stay with me. Even when i had my own room for one night they still wouldnt let him :(

If this is your 1st baby, which, from this post I assume it is. Then as a matter of course they usually keep you in over night (can depend on time of delivery). If you have a section, then you wont be able to move, so your not going anywhere, you will be on a ward and your OH will not be able to stay. No ones can.

If you have a vaginal delivery, and all goes well then you can discharge yourself if you want to so you dont have to stay the night. But PLEASE dont do this unless the Pead has been round and given LO the all clear with all the checks etc. Its fine if you want to put yourself at risk by leaving, but make sure bubs is ok.

I was in for 3 nights as I had an emergency cesarian. Cant say it was nice, but the only time OH wasnt there was 8pm til 8am, and I was sleeping and feeding in those times and that was it.

I went home 55 hours after giving birth. I could have went home a day before but I wanted to stay another night.

My DH could visit from 10am - 12.30 and then again from 2pm - 9pm every day. xxx

I was asked how long i wanted to stay. They suggested overnight as she was my first but it was entirely up to me. But Angel had issues with keeping her temp so i had to stay in til she managed it. Fortunately i was allowed to leave at 4pm the next day. I was in around 30 hours.

Chloe is my first baby and I only stayed in for eight hours. I think up here it all depends on how the labour went and what pain relief you use. I only went for gas and air as I really wanted to go straight home (the only thing that got me through). If I had stayed in I would have been allowed one visitor to stay from twelve lunch time till eight in the evening.
I am very similar to you that I really hate hospitals so found the best place was to be at home. The midwifes keep a close eye on you once home and you have a telephone number should anything happen.
I hope everything goes OK for you.

I was in for 5 days because I lost a lot of blood, but most of the people on the ward were in and out within the same day. The midwives encouraged people to stay overnight though if they wanted to. OH was allowed to visit from 8am - 9pm but not stay over - it was horrible when he had to leave but i just tried to sleep.
The good thing about staying in is the 24hr access to midwives to help out with breastfeeding or any questions - this helped me loads, but i was glad to go home!
Hope things go well for you

I was induced so was in 4 nights (2 nights before & 2 nights after), hubby wasnt allowed to stay with me apart from visiting hours until I was in the delivery suite then he was sent home soon as I was on the postnatal ward. Its so mean that they cant stay with you, when i was labouring we hid in a tiny day room on the maternity ward i was on  visiting was over at 8:30pm and it was 10:30pm before we got caught   but other than that he had to go home!

I went in at 8am to be induced, had baby at 6.30pm and stayed in for one night and was released at about 1pm the next day. OH had to go home when I finally got on the ward at about 11pm and was allowed to return at 11am the next day. I really didn't want him to go though!

i know, i cant believe none of you girls were allowed your partner to stay  i will kick up such a fuss if i have to stay in they will HAVE to let OH stay ;) OR i could try hiding him in my hospital bag :rotfl:

I have a nice story for you! Although I had to stay in three nights due to a pretty horrific birth and little one being in SCBU for monitoring in case she caught my stomach infection, my hubby was allowed to stay the entire time! I had my own room and he was allowed to stay overnight with me (they even had a bed in there for him!) and he was allowed to stay all day as well. Other visitors had to stick to the visiting hours though. But if I would have been on a public ward, hubby wouldn't have been allowed to stay overnight, just all day x

I was kept in for 3 days as I had a c-section, on my third day i requested to go home, the midwives were a bit hesitant at first but I was adament I wanted to go home, so they let us leave after the paeditricion (can't spell) had seen my daughter.

I had a private room which I had to request, but the visiting times still stood, OH had to leave by 9pm (although on one day my temperature was very high so they let my OH stay until 10.30pm - they didn't kick him out though, he left at that time - I think as my temperature was high they were being more sympathtic)

I was in 3 nights hun but thats coz Maddison was low birth weight. Chris could visit me from 10am - 8pm but couldnt stay over. I have a fear of hospitals so this was awful for me, you'll be fine babes

Arrive at hospital at 5am, had baby at 7.35am, left hospital as a family at 5pm :D . Would have been earlier in the afternoon but as there was a change in shift we got forgetten about  . I started to want to go at 1pm after we had sat around on the ward for a few hours. DH went and reminded them at 3pm. This was our first, baby was fine, I felt surprisingly good for someone who had just had a baby so there were no problems in letting us go the same day. The midwife came to check on us the next day anyway.

I was in for 3 days afer ds was born due to c section. I had dd at 7.22pm on the friday and was home by 4pm sat after a natural birth. Wpuld have been earlier but the ward clerk was on holiday so had to wait for a mw to do all my and other people's discharge notes.
