The infant feeding coordinator wanted James to have reached 11lbs by today or else refer to hospital. He weighed in at 1/2 oz under so we have an appointment for Wednesday.

Has anyone else been through this? I have no idea what I should expect to happen. :(

I've been feeding him like the clappers and he's always on the breast. Loosing the dummy has gone well and he seems to be getting used to not having it. I'm also trying to get the hang of the nursing supplementer device although so far; I hate it. I end up with milk everywhere and James is taking very little in because he keeps losing the tube when he's fussing.

Ah hun I have no advise but hope it goes well for you xxxxx

Again, im of no use. But I hope things go well on Wednesday!

That seems a bit harsh!! Hope everything goes ok for you!

(April is 3 months on Monday and weighs 10lb 4oz - no one has mentioned hospital to us)

That seems very harsh, i dont have any advice for you just hope everything goes okay, but my lo is 15 weeks on tues and she only just weighs 11lb so not sure why they are referring you, was he over 11lb and has lost lots and lots of weight??

I agree that that sounds like a drastic measure for 1/2 oz.

I don't mean to sound reckless but you don't have to go. If you are happy that your DS is happy and healthy and gaining weight (albeit slowly) then save yourself the stress.

I'll bet you are told to top up.

It sounds like you are doing everything perfectly. Have you done a couple of days bedding in? Go to bed with James for 2 full days, lots of skin to skin, lots of cuddles, let him feed when he wants and you just watch DVDs and read mags/books and play!

I wouldn't worry too much if he's only half an ounce away from the target you were given.
I hope the hospital appointment goes well. I started topping up Logan last week and now he's almost totally formula fed as he's refusing to breastfeed. Don't let them push you into anything you're not happy with
