I've not posted on here in a long time but could do with a bit of reassurance or anyone's previous experience with this. I'm 38+6 today.

My last labour was bad, failure to progress, OP baby, epidural at 5cm followed by pitocin (not really part of the plan) because of being too tired and slow progress, fetal distress, eventually EMCS at 9cm, DD was 9lb 7 (I'm only little) and wrapped up over and over in chord so it was never going to happen naturally and actually was the safest thing in the end.

This time, baby measures even bigger so waiting 2 weeks past Due date isn't an option for me. Got ELCS booked for due date (40 weeks). I'm desperate to have vbac (it would make my whole life lol) but also have accepted that a civilised c section is very likely and will be a positive experience!

Had unsuccessful sweep at 38 weeks (cervix thinning and beginning to open but not enough to do a proper job). Got another sweep at 39+1. I'm taking EPO (orally and pessary), RLT, doing walks, curries, lots of sex, clary sage etc... I don't care if it doesn't work, it's just so I know I've tried everything

Anyway, I've got my pre op in a few days and wondered whether it's worth me asking if they can break my waters the day before my ELCS as a last resort to see if it works? If it doesn't, I'm having a section anyway 24 hours later. Does anyone have any experience of having water broken as a method of induction? Did it work?

Thanks ladies!

I'm too interested in this.
I had an emergency section last time and would love for a vbac this time around.

I've never heard of them willingly just breaking waters to induce somebody. It's always pessary first down here.

Hopefully you won't go that far and you'll get a lovely vbac x

They could induce you. I just delivered a VBAC today after successful induction.

At my local hospital they’ll break your waters to induce you if you want a vbac. They’d then give you 24 hours to see if you labour on your own, and if not they’d start the hormone drip to help you contract. You could ask your hospital if they’d induce you if that’s what you want?

This fills me with hope! (Sorry to jump on your thread kirlou92) I'm going to be asking the mw if that's something they do down here!

If they don’t do it at the hospital you’re booked at, ask to transfer to a hospital that does x

If your cervix is favourable to break your waters then that’s what most places will do. If it needs some encouragement my trust use a hormone gel first x
