I've not posted on here in a long time but could do with a bit of reassurance or anyone's previous experience with this. I'm 38+6 today.
My last labour was bad, failure to progress, OP baby, epidural at 5cm followed by pitocin (not really part of the plan) because of being too tired and slow progress, fetal distress, eventually EMCS at 9cm, DD was 9lb 7 (I'm only little) and wrapped up over and over in chord so it was never going to happen naturally and actually was the safest thing in the end.
This time, baby measures even bigger so waiting 2 weeks past Due date isn't an option for me. Got ELCS booked for due date (40 weeks). I'm desperate to have vbac (it would make my whole life lol) but also have accepted that a civilised c section is very likely and will be a positive experience!
Had unsuccessful sweep at 38 weeks (cervix thinning and beginning to open but not enough to do a proper job). Got another sweep at 39+1. I'm taking EPO (orally and pessary), RLT, doing walks, curries, lots of sex, clary sage etc... I don't care if it doesn't work, it's just so I know I've tried everything
Anyway, I've got my pre op in a few days and wondered whether it's worth me asking if they can break my waters the day before my ELCS as a last resort to see if it works? If it doesn't, I'm having a section anyway 24 hours later. Does anyone have any experience of having water broken as a method of induction? Did it work?
Thanks ladies!
