Shes a bit quiet layed down atm but apart from that shes ok so far, ive just given her some calpol to bring it down. Should i wait a while to see if the calpol helps bring it down or shall i call nhs, docs for advise. I sound so stupid as i never know what to do when shes ill, its scares the crap out of me though, when shes fallen asleep im gonna get a cold flannel on her head. My poor baby, shes not ill often but when she is, shes very ill

Hiya, poor thing. I think my HV told me to ring doctor if it was 39. Knowing me, I prob would anyway just to put my mind at rest - either that or ring NHS Direct, they are great.

My doc always says that if they're not themselves, not eating/drinking and have a high temp to ring just to be sure.

I would def ring with a temp that high just to double check, there's no harm in getting her checked out and putting your mind at ease.

Also, I find that baby ibuprofen works better on very high temps than calpol.

Well ive rung the docs, she says to keep my eye on her, try and keep her temp down and push lots of fluid into her, all i can do now is wait :(

Melly i wouls take her to the doctors straight away with a temop that high. Get her seen too babes.

I'm with mrstommo, take her to the doctor. That is a high temp and you dont get temperatures like that unless it is for a reason. What I mean is that you might get a temperature 37.5/38.00 with teething, but not that high. There is def an underlying cause, might be an ear/throat infection?

If it goes up again, or if she doesn't look/act normal get her straight to A&E or the docs.

mel...sorry hope has tonsilitus..christopher has just recoverd from this he too had avery high temp of 39, shivering yet sweating, very glingy, vomiting..it took 4 doctors and a registra to diagnose him :wall: but once he started pennicilin he was much better 48 hours later still took him a good week to get over it fully tho. really hope ur little miss doesnt get it as bad as he got it because he had a very bad case of it and was very unwell. give regular nurofen/calpol and keep her cool as we were told dont bother offering food unless she wants it cold youhurt is a good one..prayin she gets over it asap
