Hi

Just wondering if any one has ever had a wrong reading from home tests?
Thanks Nim x

Hiya Nim

I've personally only had correct results from HPT's - But there are instances where the result can be wrong.

Its quite commom to get false negatives. Most likely if you test too early or you urine has been too diluted to detect high enough levels of human chorionic gonadotrophin (HCG). It is however rare to get a false positive. There are some circumstances where you can get a false reading
such as if the pituitary gonadotrophin levels are elevated in the urine, usually in older women when ovulation is failing and the pituitary excretes more gonadotrophins to stimulate the failing ovary.

Hope this helps

Gosh you know a lot bout the hormones and things hun!!! Il be asking you for advice in the future lol x

After 5 years of trying for a baby due to annovulation and a blood clotting problem... having 3 miscarriages, a failed cycle of IVF, daily Heparin injections for the whole of my pregnancy to combat Anticardio lipin antibodies you pick up a lot along the way. I have so much documentation on my PC regarding Multiple miscarriages, Concieving, fertility treatments, infertility, pregnancy, birth, clotting factors etc....I could write a book!
I've learned a lot these last 5 years...but my little boy was worth the hard core reading!

Im so pleased your got your baby in the end..you derserve it. Just hope I get my dream soon!! :D

All my home tests came up positive & the doctors & hospitals were negative. I trust the home tests as confirmation before I'd go by their results.

I used Tesco pink & white box for my first 4 tests & because I was being looked at like I was bomkers I then used clearblue.

A false negative is more common than a false positive.

:D

Yes I have heard that too wobbles, they say a false positive is highly uncommon
