Hey,

I feel like all I do is complain :(

As some of you know I’ve been off work with “morning” sickness.. that seems to of subsided now at 10weeks 6days..
But, now.. my left (mostly) hip and bottom side of my back is hurting so much! Within an hour of walking I need to sit, when I sit then I struggle to get back up! I’ve been to the doctors and they said paracetamol.. which is rubbish!

Has anyone else had hip / back pain this early in pregnancy? :( x

I have nothing to offer you but sympathy :)
I hope you feel better soon X

Thank you hun,
That’s what the doctor said, stuffs loosening.. which Is fine, I know it has to happen but now I’m off work again for this :( I went back 3 days n now this :( x

I’ve had pain in my left hip and down my left leg since I found out, but I also suffer with sciatic nerve pain. During my first pregnancy the sciatic pain got so bad I was signed off work at 25 weeks because travelling two hours a day was near impossible. I went to physio and was put on codeine but tbh nothing really helped. The pain during contractions was radiated around my Back and hips too.

I think it’s worth putting in a referral to physio if it doesn’t go away in a few days as these referrals can take months anyway. Hopefully it’s just something that passs for you - any hip or back pain during pregnancy is awful and debilitating. :(

Get a long pregnancy pillow that you can put between your legs when you sleep. I have had the same hip pain from 9 weeks and the pillow really helps!! Doesn't cure it obviously, but it definitely makes sleeping easier and I find that I get less pain in the day if I use the pillow.

Thank you ladies.

I’ve got my first midwife appointment today so I’m going to discuss it all with her & see what she says! X

I’ve got terrible pain in my left hip, it feels like my leg socket is going to pop out of it! I haven’t been to the doctors due to the fact I know they’ll just say paracetamol, but I struggle to get up sometimes out of my chair! Sometimes it’s alright and sometimes it’s agony. I do have the occasional back twinge as well. Hope you start feeling better soon xx

I second what winter wolf has said, I’ve been using my pregnancy pillow since about week 10, I’m 12 weeks now and I can honestly say the pillow makes me so much more comfortable in bed and lying on my side xx

I think I defo need to invest. Although, most of my pain is when I’ve been on my feet :( xx

Hi BeccyJ

I’m almost 30 Weeks and I have really bad lower back/pelvic pain which radiates to my bum. It’s terrible when I’m trying to get comfy in bed and I feel like something is going to dislocate. I find that putting a pillow between my legs at night in bed helps ease the pain a bit. My midwife mentioned that physiotherapy is available via the NHS, specifically aimed at pregnant women so it might be worth asking your midwife about that? Hopefully you feel better soon x

It's annoying isn't is Beccy? Back pain is worse in the long run when stationary for long periods, but hurts when you're up too much. My OH bought me a pregnancy pillow during the second tri of my last pregnancy and although it didn't make everything better during the day it at least helped me get some sleep while I was using it.

If it doesn't get any better after using the pillow, definitely talk to your midwife/doctor about it, just so it can be managed with physio or pain relief x
