Haven't had my hair highlighted in ages and roots are looking quite bad, so booked an appointment to get some more highlights put in. I told the girl on the phone I was pregnant and was I ok to have it done. She said she thought so.

Anyone else know if this is ok? I was due to get it done weeks ago but put it off during the first 3 months. Can it affect the baby in any way or is it just a case of because I'm pregnant my skin/hair is more sensitive? Should I go for a sensitivity test first? I normally get it done every 3 months but baby comes first and want to make sure its safe

Hormones can affect colours and your sensitivity Hun so you need to have a sensitivity test first

That's what I have been told anyway :)

It might be different with highlights but I've had my hair coloured twice during pregnancy and I've been fine. My hairdresser said that colour might take differently but she dyed her hair through both her pregnancies. Speak to a hairdresser but I'm sure it'll be fine.

had me hair dyed all through me last pregnancy and had it done this 1 never had problem x

Hello hun I had highlights at about 14 weeks as my hair was minging!! But they grow out very quickly!! I'm gunna wait till baby is here to treat myself now! But apparently highlights r better as they don't touch your scalp xx

Hiya i didnt know I was pregnant til labout 9 weeks and had already had my hair done (hightlighted) twice in that time. Ive had it done twice since and all my hairdresser says is pregnant people have their hair done as normal - it can't affect the baby etc all that can happen is your hair could perhaps not go the colour it should.
Im having my hair highlight for the 5 th time in a couple weeks and my brown low lights and blonde highlights have still been spot on everytime. just bear in mind if you have a blonde there is always that chance it could go orangey?

But then again whatever colour it went the hairdresser would fix it up :) i couldnt imagine me growing my highlights out or anything you need to still feel pretty and treat yourself to having your hair done as it makes us feel good :)
xxxxxx

I have blonde highlights and my roots are getting quite bad, really looking forward to getting it done!! lets hope it doesn't go orange

Thats the thing plenty of people don't realise they're pregnant and carry on as normal and baby is grand!!
