Hi everyone, I'm kinda new to this part. I've basically been off my pill for a year and have had 4 periods in that time. Totally irregular.. I'm having all my bloods done on Monday to check my hormone levels and have an appointment at the surgery with the doctor that specialises in infertility whatever my results come back as something isn't right anyway...I'm really nervous now and don't really know what to expect.. But glad at the same time I've made this step.

It might be something really common like PCOS. When I came off the pill I didnt have any periods at all for 10 months - a touch concerning! I was diagnosed as having mild PCOS - which scared me at the time but I was given provera (a tablet to bring on my period) and then clomid (a tablet to make you ovulate which the pcos was stopping me doing naturally) and 2 cycles into trying with clomid I got my BFP.

Sometimes half the battle is actually getting seen by a specialist. Once I had my appointment with a consultant it was all really positive!

It took a good year to 18 months after I'd come off the pill, for my periods to sort themselves out. They were totally irregular and random.

It's all quite scary and exciting at the same time isn't it! Good luck with your tests. Like it's been said, it can take a while after coming off the pill for these things to sort themselves out but at least if you have tests done you can rule out other potential problems.

Thanks for the replies, it is kinda scary and exciting as you say.. I'm hoping the results will come back by today or tomorrow... It's so frustrating as had such long gaps between periods.. One was 17 weeks, another 13 weeks, currently on week 10 with nothing... The only thing that worries me about the whole of this is my mum started the menopause at 40, so did her mum... I'm currently 32 but hopefully it's not... Anyway they cN do so much more now for you than 20 years ago...
