hi

my lil girl amy is 4 months on sunday and shes drinking 6 oz for each bottle and has 5-6 a day she has one b4 she goes to bed and she doesnt wake up till 6.30 am now ive she seems to lose intrest in her bottle shes not ill as i went to docs and he sed to keep trying with her bottle but everytime i give her one he uses her tongue to push it out.

so today i got her a little jar of creamy chicken and a pudding banana and peaches both for 4 months plus, i put one baby spoonful in her dish and mix her with her milk so its easier for her to dyjest. ive done this coz she doesnt like baby rice but seems to like the pudding as i havent yet tried her the jar of creamy chicken. she loves the jar of puding. i have tried her with hungrier babies milk to but still keeps pushing the bottle out. i thought it was her nose closing back up again but the doc says its not.

does this mean shes reay for baby food?

ps she seems to be keeping the food down better than her milk am i doing this wrong ive tried to explain to the health visitor but she just says to keep using bottle but i dont want to force amy to take the botle if you know what i mean. shell take it nicely after a spoonful of food then i give her milk to wash it down and so on. As shes my first baby im not sure what to do any help is appreitated thanks in advance

am well confused with the pregnacy tickers lol they must go from the 3rd oog jan to the 3rd of feb for a amonth old then from 3 rd of feb to the 3rd of march lol coz there coming out with that shes two and half months old lol i keep thinkin that a sunday to a sunday i one week lol so i keep think that coz she 12 weeks on sunday means that shes 4 months old lol

You mean 3 months?

If Amy is 3 months it is FAR too soon for solids for any baby :( Especially after all the problems your lo had.

She may be teething, try applying teething gel on her gums before her milk. Or get the dr to check her mouth for signs of thrush.

I dont think you should be weaning a baby so young especially as she was so poorly to start with. she is 4 months when 4 FULL calender months have passed since she was born eg. if she was born on the 1st January, she will be 4 months on the 1st MAY.....and even then I think I'd be waiting till she was closer to the recommended 6 months TBH :)

i started weaning katie at 11 weeks, but i only gave her baby rice until she was 16 weeks and then she only had plain veggies until she was about 7 months. if at all possible, try and hold off a few more weeks, especially with the problems she had, but i know from experiencce its not always possible!! i would recommend sticcking to baby rice tho, its just a bit easier on their tums and digestive systems

She's not even 3 months for another week and a half, so as everyone else has said she is far too young for any kind of food, especially as she has been so unwell. I agree that you should try teething gel to see if maybe her gums are sore or get your doctor to look for signs of thrush as both can make sucking on the bottle very uncomfortable :)

i agree with the teething or thrush comments. Best to get it checked before starting solids. I know some babies are ready earlier than others but the longer you can stick to just milk, the better. Good luck xx

yeah i understand what you all mean she virtually drinks every bottle i give her but takes her about 20 mins the only way she drinks it with out spittin it out is when im out in public . i took her to the docs the other day he looked in her mouth just incase she was sufferin from thrush but theres no sign of it. it is a sign for hr nose blocking again but he sed he could get tubes up both sides her nose and sed it wasnt that and had no clue i also sed that shes drinking more than usual hes the one that suggested me to try give her baby food coz some babies developed earlier than others but i didnt give her it just out the jar as you would with an older baby i mixed it with her milk so that it was runny enuff for her to swallow ive only give her it once today to see if it would help fill her up a bit she kept it down and wasnt sick my mam and everyone told me to put baby rice in her milk as they did with there children at her age. i dunno what todo coz the doc and health visitor cant find anything wrong and i fed her in fount of the healthvisitor on monday and she understands what im saying but says she has no answers she could give me

It sounds abit like reflux, it can make babies abit fussy with feeds and can make they bring feeds up.

20 minutes for a feed sounds fine, maybe even a little quick if anything. You could change the teat, maybe the flow is too slow/fast.

What kind of teat is Amy having at the minute hun?

hun, whatever you do, dont put baby rice in her bottle - its a choking hazard  i think mamfy has a point about the teay size, it wasw taking like an hour for ella to drink her milk and i put her on vari flow teats, so much quicker!!

shes got medium flow teat she does have reflux ive got medcine to give to her as that goes into her milk at 8 and 4 and 12 oclock she drinks them three bottles with out a prob its every other one she spits out lol if u know what i mean

i would take her back to the doc and see if there is some medicine that you can put in every feed. If your LO is having trouble digesting milk feeds properly there is no way her system is mature enough to handle solids. Cant believe your doc even suggested this at 3 months old thats crazy!
