I thought I'd join this forum cuz at the moment I am about 3 weeks pregnant. I have a question.....how long should i be really careful with stuff and is there anything i should watch out for...also when should i go to the doctor??..im at a loss kinda..lol

I'm new to all this as well, being pregnant with our first. To be honest, the best thing is just to make an appointment with your GP and ask their advice. I am guessing lots of people will say lots of different things, but your GP will probably be able to answer most questions.

In terms of 'being careful' - depends what you're talking about. I certainly haven't eaten anything like pate, prawns, eggs, mayo, cheese (apart from cheddar), etc since finding out I was pregnant. I also have not had any alcohol, hot baths (and I LOVE hot baths!), and I have also stopped playing tennis.

So, ring your GP and go and see them!

And congrats on your news :D

 hi to you too

says in a pregnancy mag i buy and mayo in jars is safe apparently its up to you if u eat it tho as i dont really like it and can live without it unless i get a funny thing and fancy it lol

cheese is fine if its hard cheese. they say blue milk, stay away from deli foods. butchers is fine i think as i eat it and my babys fine :) likes kicking me in my belly button sometimes and i hate that lol

some fish is ok

id reccomend going to see doc/midwife tho, find out deffo if u are preg as theirs is accurate :)

well i took two tests and both came with a positive :)...and i also mean like physical activity..like how much is too much...at the moment i dont have a GP, i want a midwife and im scared and nervous to make an appointment..lol..i know this must sound weird but im kinda nervous

Hello i am 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant as well! I made an appointment and going to see my GP today. Just like you i don't know what am i supposed to do and what not. But i guess we have to learn. Very nervous and scared as well :?

Yeah my doctor said mayo in jars was fine, its just fresh mayo you have to watch out for.

I had a prawn salad the other day, is that bad???

your not safe till u reach the second trimster which is around 12weeks, so id be very careful for the first 12weeks . if u work tell your work asap especially if u lift heavy stuff.

have u not had a home checkup thats what i got.
then i got a scan for 12weeks 3days.

doesnt matter u need to see your gp and to get a mw rolling. pluck up curage and sort it out or get someone to go with u so maybe then can do the talking for yas.like bf/hubby or mother, even sister or bro

uh yeah thanks, i found a midwife...i dont believe in GPs as i dont believe in hospital births

Be careful with physical activities - when pregnant you produce a hormone called Relaxin which relaxes your ligaments and stuff ready for birth. You might find that you pull or strain things easier now. I bent down at 5 wks and couldn't stand up again! Had a really sore back for a week!

well lucky for me my dad is my boss and the last thing he wants is a hurt grandchild and daughter..lol..but i do alot of lifting and im trying to be careful but i work with mostly men who dont understand at all whats going on and they dont care too either, so im trying to have my dad make the guys help me a bit more

and as far as the midwifery goes, i am suppose to have an in-home midwifery checkup this week, so i hope everything goes well!!!
