Hi girls,
I’m just popping over from tri 1 to see if any of you have had a similar situation. I’m currently about 9 weeks pregnant. At around 6 weeks I had some red bleeding. Ended up with a scan at EPU where everything was fine and we could see the heartbeat, but also a subchronic hematoma which was fairly large.
I then never had any bleeding for another 2 and half weeks then last Saturday had some brown blood. This went to just bits of brown when wiping with occasionally a little bit more. Sorry if tmi but I’m straining a bit to go to the loo these days and it seems to happen then!
After the first scan they said I didn’t need to go back unless I had heavy bleeding but I spoke to the doctor today and he referred me for a scan on Monday.
Just looking to see if anyone has a similar situation? Xx

Hi megmog, I'm not part of second Tri but just came across your post so hope you don't mind me commenting but I feel like this is my mastermind subject these days (unfortunately)!! I had one of these last year which was also picked up at 6 weeks and the best advice I had was (if you aren't already) to drink lots of water. Water helps it reabsorb and prevents any contracting which may make bleeding worse. Also, take it easy, no heavy lifting, def no sex, or rushing about. Lots and lots of people have hematomas and have perfectly healthy pregnancies so try not to worry, the scan on Monday will be for them to see if it's reduced, moved etc. They either reabsorb or bleed out and that can all depend on where it features in relation to the baby, how big it is in comparison to the baby etc. The water will also help with the constipation as you don't want to be straining too much either really if you can help it. x

Thank you so much
Everything was good at the scan and I was put slightly ahead at 9+5, so I’m 10+4 now. And it has reduced in sized, not massively but by about a quarter which I guess I better than nothing. The nurse said that the brown bleeding is good and is what they want to see really, urgh. All your advise is great thank you. I will definitely up my water intake, hadn’t heard about that! Got my scan date through for 2nd May which seems ages away but hoping to see an improvement again by then.
They haven’t said where in relation to baby it is, but I can see on the scan it looks like it’s under baby. Obviously now baby has grown, it’s a lot smaller in comparison which is reassuring, compared to last time. No one has really said much about it to be honest, other than that it will either bleed out or reabsorb and don’t worry about it. Haven’t been given any advice other than what I’ve googled etc so what you’ve said is really appreciated.
Xxx

Oh good, I'm glad it was of help. If it's under the baby that's also a good sign! And yes, the bigger the baby gets and the smaller it gets the better so all heading in the right direction!
