Hi everyone, I'm waiting to see a dietician for my lo but I am struggling to think of decent snacks that he have with his cows milk protein allergy.

At the moment I'm trying to make my own food but he's not loving it so I'm not sure what I can add to make it more tasty for him?

For snacks, Leo loves hummus and rice cakes, raisins, home made banana and blueberry muffins (I'm pretty sure they don't have any dairy in) and lots of fruit. I add lots of spices and gerb to my cooking which he seems to like more, for instance I couldn't get him to eat porridge until I added cinnamon to it. X

Thanks for the ideas, I like the sound of hummus! Silly question but can you use herbs and mild spices in cooking from 6 months old onwards?x

Yes! use herbs/mild spices etc. More tastes they try the better. My LO also has this allergy. I use PURE sunflower butter (Tesco or asda) in all of my cooking, he tends to eat what we eat now and I use this as a substitute in all of our food so don't really have to worry about what hes having.

=) x

Bought some coyo yoghurt for my son in plain and vanilla and he loves it :) can get it in some larger supermarkets and health food shops. Pitta cut into fingers, breadsticks, oatcakes, toast fingers with mashed banana on instead of butter. Have you tried soft fruit in one of those mesh nets? I also give my son frozen puréed fruit in one of those after lunch, especially good when he's teething.

Thanks for the ideas ladies. Are breadsticks ok? I wasn't sure if some bread items had dairy related food in them? I do have one of those mesh nets but haven't got round to trying it yet :)

I was wondering the same about bread sticks! we only tried them this week, but I picked up the first packet I seen in Tesco, bread sticks with rosemary over the deli counter and it contains no dairy/soya =)

My lb is dairy intolerant still at 16 months so some suggestions may be too old for your little one yet. Chopped fruit, raisins, organix do dairy free oaty bars in different flavours but think they're from 12 months. You can get little packets in most supermarkets called kiddilicious and they do like hard pieces of fruit smoothies but it's just fruit. Tesco do great free from yoghurts in raspberry and passion fruit flavour, and they also do a few cakes and biscuits that are dairy free for the odd treat. Just a few x

Mm breadsticks with rosemary sound great! Thanks, I'll look for those yoghurts in tesco xx

Some bread does have dairy in, most doesn't though. Just make sure to always check the packet. My niece has a dairy allergy too, there's a few of the organix range that she can eat, which she loves so check those out. Jaffa cakes and bourbons are both dairy free too (for when he's a little older)

Check out ocado they sell a massive range of dairy free stuff. Includong the coyo yoghurts mentioned above.
