My baby arrived unexpected 5 weeks early on New Years Day. He latches onto the boob, suckles for a few minutes and then stops. Days 1-3 I was expressing into a syringe and topping up with formula. Since then I have been expressing and managing to produce enough milk for feeds until yesterday evening. Yesterday was an emotional day and everything just got on top off me- baby now has jaundice , very sleepy and refusing to feed but since iv only been able to produce 10ml of milk, which obviously is also now worrying me and getting me down. My milk supply seems to have reduced when I should be producing more. Can anybody give me advise? It's really getting me down :( x

Hun take baby to bed, get lots of skin to skin. As in you topless and baby in nappy and spend as much time with baby suckling as possible. Your baby dictates what you produce. Let baby feed as much as possible to up your supply. Hope that helps. I think there's foods you can eat like oats etc but maybe someone else can help you there. Drink and eat plenty and try to relax xxx

Sorry I just reread your post are you still solely expressing? Xxx

If you look on kellymom website there is a comprehensive list of how to try and inc supply which is all good advice. However, like you I was convinced I had a poor supply despite what they say about "all women can do this etc etc". See the motilium thread here, this has helped me loads. You can try fenugreek too, thiscworked for me but upset my tummy.

Definitely echo the skin to skin advice, get lots of rest, drink lots of water, fenugreek tea can help, as can eating oats. Good luck x
