so just bathed my baby girl and put her nappie on and her cord fell off now midwife did say that it will fall off on its own but she said it would smell and it would be all sticky and stuff but it wasn't so is she going to be ok she does still have some sort of sticky stuff in side her belly button silly question i know and sorry if i posted in the wrong place not sure were to post thanks in advance ladies xxxx

thats fine hunni, it happened to my daughter when hers came off best thing keep it clean and dry everything is alright x x x

K's was all dried up when it fell off. I don't remember any stickiness on the chord, but her bellybutton was a bit gooey I guess lol. I didn't really inspect the chord though...

My LO's fell off after a bath too - he's was also dry and I do not recall any stickiness either? It sounds fine to me, just keep it clean and dry and if you are at all worried speak to your HV.

I'd be more worried if it did smell tbh. if it doesnt smell i would think that was a good thing lol.
My little mans fell off this morning

if it goes smelly and gunkey then just bathe it with a bit of salty water, not too strong and then dry well. alyssa's fell off at 5 days old and it got a lil infected cos of the way it came off and thats how i got it to clear up

I was told to clean Albert's with soft kitchen roll and weak salt water cooled from a boiled kettle, cotton wool can leave fibres behind that go manky. I nearly threw up when it happened lol

Salt water is good. G's went sticky from 'over granulation' or something so we had to put neat salt on it.

Xxx

On my iPhone - so cant see tickers :(

thanks ladies all was fine asked the doctor and as for the smell he said that was normal and health so all it good xxx
