So yesterday I was in blue water and I thought I would upgrade my phone while I was there.
I got the new Galaxy S3.

I really don't like it. I don't understand it it's hard to work. It's just not for me. And if you have it and love it I wish I did.

So I thought I could take it back today and exchange it for an iPhone. (what I had before but is now very slow and dying). But bloody orange have said as I upgraded in the shop not over the phone I am not allowed to change my mind. I have to keep the phone as I knew what I was getting. I can understand this if I took it back 7-14 days later but less than 24hrs!!!

So I called the customer service and they said no you can you have 14 days, so off I trott back to the shop and they are sticking to their guns it can't be done so I get them to call customer service and speak to who I talked to. (which never happens) then the woman on the phone says on speaker no you can't change it you will have to get on with it. So I have a 2 year contract on phone which I can't work or understand.

Also they all said to get on with it or to sell it, with what is happening with it I am sure if I go to sell it someone will take me for a blooming ride.

What should I do?

Unfortunatly they are correct you have no legal rights to return as unwanted your best option is to sell it sorry

I wish I just knew this as when you look at it in the shop you just look at all the pretty colours and press the buttons you don't really use it.

I work at the carphone warehouse and yes unfortunately orange don't offer a 14 day cooling off period. 02,virgin and talkmobile are the only networks that do. They figure that because you've bought it in store you've already seen it and agreed to it in person. They'll only let you do it if you bought it over the phone or online. I think it is a bit silly because the 5 minutes you get in the shop isn't enough to see if you can work it properly. But yeah unfortunately those are their policies and it'll be written somewhere on your contract too. You should get a decent amount of money for the s3 though to get yourself something else x

Maybe I should change the subject to mummy brain why didn't I know this.

Maybe someone close to you is after one and due an upgrade? If so get them to get an iphone and do a swap that way you can take advantage of the warranty through them. Other than that you'll have to sell or swap it and maybe insure it if you aren't already covered on your credit card.

I think you should phone back and keep asking. But I can see why they won't accept it bvack, but I can't believe they don't have a cooling off period.

Phone n kick up a massive fuss- you might get someone nice. Keep asking to speak to top manager xxxx

this may not help but i got a band new phone a few years ago when touch screens were shiney and new i gound myself in the same situatiob i nearly gave it away to my sister but after a week or so i learnt to live with it a grew to really like the phone xx

I forgot to say, try a different branch, same way 2 different phone people said different things so might they, you never know.

My boss regularly gets new phones then sells them on eBay and pays off the contract with it then gets a new one. Work out how much you'd need to cover the tariff at a minimum because these handsets sell for about£500 xx

just wanted to add they are really good phones when you get the hang of them me and my friends prefer them now to the i phone so you could persevere a bit to see if you like it before you sell/swap

on another note cant believe orange dont do cooling off, im on three and the do but it worth ringing them and asking to speak to managers and just say you didnt get much chance to think about it as it was pushed upon you in the shop and just say in future you will be swapping networks and wont recommend them to anyone and it usually works!!

good luck xx

You could still complain to ofcom that they didn't make you aware of the difference between purchasing in store and over the phone/internet and that you keep getting told different things hun xxxxx
