she wont finish her bottle anymore.
she used to happily take 4oz a time but now its gone down to 2oz-2.5oz.

i wind her in between and change her nappy and wet her face to wake her up but she just closes her mouth tight and wont take anymore.

iknow shes probably had enough but why has she changed????

is she snacking? as in is she having smaller bottles but more regular?

or is she unwell?

i don't know the answer im afraid :(

yeah less amounts and more often.. so its getting to every 2- 2 n half hours :|

oooo bad baby...Try extending the time between feeds slowly... like feed her and when she demands her next feed, wait 30 mins before you give it, so that shes more hungry and takes more food...do this for a few days and once she settles a bit...extend it another 30 mins...etc

well..... she had 2oz at 4.30pm so i knew she would want more around 6pm/6.30pm

sure enough she woke up dead on 6pm wanting feeding.
so instead we tried her with some water... she didnt want that, so we tried her dummy.... and she didnt want that.
i kept swapping between the two and she was getting narky, so after that i put her in her pram in the other room, turned the lights off, gave her a dummy, and rocked her pram.

she dropped off :D :D :D and is still asleep now :D ..... will let you know what time she wakes, and how much bottle she takes!!!

see usually, as soon as she makes a whingey noise i give her her bottle... which i know is wrong now , because i automatically think she wants feeding so give her milk... so she only has a little bit because she's not really hungry.... which is why her feedings all messed up!!

just hoping this sleep is going to help    will let you know!

Evie did exactly the same Kim... it was hard work!

Now we're down to 5/6 feeds a day and she has 5 and sometimes 6 oz per feed.

I used to walk round the house with her showing her different things to distract her for half an hour and just stretched it everytime. She still occasionally wants a quick oz top up now and again though.

I think sometimes that she's just bored and gets frustrated and cries so I automatically fed her but she didn't really want feeding...walking seems to do the trick though

well....... i got her to last until 8pm!
and she guzzled 4oz in 20 minutes! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

she wont do that at night though! :wall: :wall: :wall:

now she wants more what should i do?? she's just had 4oz :(

is she definitley hungry or just demanding out of habit? maybe leave it half an hour then see try walk her round the house and distract her.

she was screaming so had to give in
shes just polished off another 2oz.
ive messed it up now :( :( :(

just a suggestion Kim, when she next wants feeding maybe do what you did previously and distract her/get her back to sleep and then she wakes again give her a bottle with 5oz in it. If she polishes it off it may ward off her hunger for a bit longer and if she doesnt want it she wont take it.

she could be having a growing spurt Kim. But if she keeps feeding like this it might be worth changing her milk to a thicker one like C&G comfort 1.

Did you try and wind her? Babies sometimes take more food when they have wind (so I'm told)

well we got to bed at 10.30pm
and she woke up at 12.30am whinging, so normally i would have done her bottle, she would have 1oz, then fall asleep.. so instead i gave her a dummy and cuddled her and she fell back asleep until 3am!!

fed her, got her wind up after every ounce and she managed the full 4oz in 20minutes! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

got her back down for 4

then she woke at 6, which again i would have fed her and wasted all of the bottle, so instead i gave her a dummy again and cuddled her, and she fell back asleep until 8! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
gave her her bottle, got her wind up after every ounce again and shes just had 4oz hehehehe :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

im going out for lunch today so hopefully i can keep it up and will be all organised!

thats great kim i used to feed jack when he shuffled but i dont anymore and he takes 6oz near enough everytime i feed him!!!!

Imogen went through this too Kim, its just the growth spurt - i know its hard work hun and knackering at night but she will slow down soon.

seems to be going ok today too...
she had 4oz at 4pm....... im hoping she lasts until 8!!

Kim...if she's draining a 4oz bottle make an extra oz and try and give her the extra. She might not be full enough.

Evie's just moved up to 6oz per feed today. She was emptying every 5oz bottle so we've started making 6oz ones now and she's just had 5 and a half...might be worth trying with Leah x

hi Kim

I was going to suggest the same as pilkers, put an extra ounce in her bottle then it is there if she wants it!

Olivia used to do the same thing, i also used to try and make her go at least every 3-4 hours! This worked a treat untill she got to the 6 week mark and she had a growth spurt and wanted feeding every 2 hours! This happens with most babies at 6 weeks tho (so my health visitor told me) and she setlled down again after a week or so!

thanks for the advise...

she woke at 8.30pm and had 4oz.. then had a bath at 9.30
she went in her swing for a bit then cried for more.. so she had another 2oz at 10.

so tonight for the night feeds ive put 5 scoops in the little tubs instead of 4 :)
