Help help help! *update - it is all over!*

I've had it, I said in my original post I was slowly going insane. Think I have got there :(

Me being the stubborn mule I am, I've given myself a target of Jan sometime. I'm going to go to a breastfeeding cafe on Friday (DH going to take me so I got no excuses - I'm shy!!) then we're going to France for 4 days on sat, then it's christmas, then going to see HV week after Christmas, then it's New Year. So plenty to be getting on with and stuff to look forward to when it gets hard. I'm seriously considering giving bottle feeding from now on, but I'm so stubborn, won't do it till I've tried every possible avenue to resolve this.

He MUST be getting enough from me, he's lasting between feeds and still sleeping through  BUT he's only put on 2oz in the last two weeks and for a while has been only just about maintaining his weight not putting it on :(

I can't do it anymore!!

I really enjoy the baby cafe I go gto its great and the other mums are really friendly and theres lots of support. Regarding the weight gain, I have also gone though a similar problem. Maia's weight really slowed down and one week she only put on 2 oz in 3 weeks. I was really worried because the HV kept giving me the third degree and made me feel like I was doing something wrong. I have always had loads of milk at times when I was expressing off the last feed to give her in the bottle I was getting 9oz for Maia then I was able to freeze a couple of ounces I had that much, I never let her go longer than 3 hours unless she is asleep but she has dropped from the 85th centile to the 9th. In the end I was so fed up of feeling like it was my fault I had a bit of ago at the HV and she reassured me that it was nothing to worry about and that she was in proportion for her height. All my family are small my MIL is only 4ft 11 my sister is only 5ft and my niece aged 2 only just fits into her 12 month old clothes so theres no hope for Maia being big.

I wouldnt worry about the weight the main thing is that yor baby is putting on weight and so long as you know your baby is fit and healthy then dont worry and carry on feeding as and when despite the fussing.

Hope you get some help at the cafe

james went through this and it did pass and we are still breastfeeding so try not to be too disheartened! I also had two separte gp's tell me to switch to fomular which he also refused. We were referered to hospital for investigating because he did lose weight but they found him to be otherwise perfectly healthy.

Talking with the infant co-ordinator was really useful but in short we ended up taking fenugreek, stopping him having a dummy and offering him the breast as often as possible whenever he was the slightest bit restless. Things will get better honey; if you are able to it is worth persevering

Also don't worry about being shy at the breastfeeding group. I'm shy too but going there as often as possible (even on the good weeks) really helps me keep positive about breastfeeding.

:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: think it has passed!!!!!!

Yesterday was normal, today was normal so far. Here's hoping it is OVER!!!

It stopped as quick as it started  but after 3 whole weeks of insane screaming feeding sessions, I had forgotten what normal feeding is like. And just in time for Christmas and us going to France on Sat.

WOO what a relief!!!!!!!! Thanks girls for all your support and kind words - I would have given up before, if it wasn't for you lot

I know it all went a bit weird when midna left, it was her posts inbetween! I was hoping people wouldn't read it and think I was a bit...weird...

I'm not that strange...honest!

Went to breastfeeding cafe today which was soooooooooooooo helpful. Turns out his latch was not as good as it could be. After lots of prompting and tips and help, he had the best feed in a loooong time. It was also the first time in ages he didn't wiggle about and push with his arms, so I'm guessing his latch was never great. A normal feed before this episode would consist of LO wriggling about lots, thought that was all to do with his personality, as he's normally such a wriggler anyway. Thought it was normal, and the last 2 days he was back to that 'normal' feed. NOW I realise what a feed should and could be like, not so much wriggling and pushing at me with a better latch. Woo hoo! :cheer: :cheer:

Oh and just seen that Isaac is now officially 4 months old. HAPPY 4 MONTHS ISAAC!!! :cheer: :cheer:
