Hello girls!!

Well I've not even done my birth announcement yet I've been such a busy bee with visitors and our first day out today, but I'm really in need of a bit of advice...

I'm breast feeding which has luckily gone really well, first feed 1 1/2 hours, and he/I picked it up really quickly.

Today was day 5, milk came on day 3/4 but today my boobs feel like they are gonna explode!!

They are literally twice my preggers size, and one in particular is really swollen, I can feel the milk in the separate ducts bulging!

Is this normal?? I'm feeding on it as im writing.....

Anything I can do to make it go down??

Help! :)

Xx

I think keep feeding, warm pads on your breast while you are feeding and cold pads after you are done. You can also massage them while you have a shower . It took like 2 days for mine to not be painful, they are still enormous though..,

Defo keeping feeding from it. Once your body knows how much milk LO needs it will soon calm down. You can express a bit into the sink to relieve the pain, but not too much otherwise you'll trick your body into thinking it needs to produce more, which is the opposite of what you want! Lol

Congratulations on the arrival your LO! Welcome to the world baby Xxx

As the others have said keep feeding, put a warm flannel and massage just enough milk out to get some relief.

Chilled savoy cabbage leaves work a treat, they have to be savoy cabbage though!! Xx

Ooh thanks girls, a good feed deffo did the trick!:)

Xx

congrats maybe, been following you since ttc and im so made up for you that you finally got your baby :)

Welcome to B&T maybe- I'm like bev been following your journey x

I used to get in the shower and with boobs under warm water give them a rub/ massage (circular motions work best) to encourage them to let down a bit cos they were so engorged.

As long as I got some milk out they always felt much better x

Congratulations maybe! Welcome.

If you press them with a hot flannel before feeding it will make them easier for the little chap to latch. Has anyone shown you how to hand express? It is worth doing a bit of this to help baby latch as well.

Also, any lumps should be gently massaged when feeding to prevent blocked ducts/mastitis.
