i was saying to someone the other day that ive never had heartburn before when pregnant. But today and yesterday ive had it terrible :( . Its vile and i now understand what everyone who gets it moans about.

What can i have for it?

Gaviscon, milk, im not sure what else. Its horrible. Its all your talk about testicles thats done it. Im eyeing up my p&p box set as we speak.

I spoke to my midwife about it cause i'm up a few times a night with it. She prescribed me gaviscon advanced because i got it on prescription i dont have to pay.So it's worth mentioning when you go see your midwife. Other than that I was drinking milk which worke to start with but not really anymore.

xx

Yep, downing gaviscon a lot recently, lisanat is right, you can get the industrial sized super strength on prescripton for free, I had just bought a giant bottle for £8.99 in Tesco the other day until my friend reminded me about the free scripts :wall: Probably need more anyway. It is really gross, indigestion and heartburn at once :puke:
Hope the gaviscon helps, may the force be with you.

hiya budge,

I cant bare the gaviscon liquid or tablets. They make me puke! I have suffered heartburn at this stage with all 3 babies and it sucks. The only thing that helps me is either Remegel or rennies. Both in chew form. They are quite pleasant, like minty chewits and they are safe during pregnancy. I have packets dotted all over the house and in each coat pocket and handbag lol.

Good luck!

Oh and about milk...it helps at the time but due to the high fat content it actually makes the problem worse in the long run!

Love ali xxx

I thought my doc would prescribe gaviscon and I got some cheap alternative. Still got it free though but it wasnt gaviscon and was dead thick.

Yeah I got palmed off with a cheap alternative which was frankly like semen (sorry tmi). When I complained I was told they no longer gave gaviscon on precription as it was too expensive so I said sod it and bought my own. The big bottles are on offer at Boots at the moment reduced from £8.99 to £5.99.

I was nearly in tears with it all sat night hun, never had heartburn like it :( ,i have started using gaviscon and it's vile but does the trick :D xx

I feel really sorry for u ladies who get heart burn, i have to say its one thing i havent got yet still time i suppose :(

hope u all get better soon

really cold milk helps, or rennie chewables...

the gavascon cool tablets are horrible though they get stuck in your teeth, eugh!

if you get it at night, make sure you sleep with you head raised above your chest it keeps the acid in your stomach.

aww hun its awful i used peptac off the doctor which is like gaviscon but i found it better eat little and often nothing too salty or spicy and lots of milk hope you feel better soon xxxxxx

Rennies are the best as they just taste minty, gaviscon and fruit flavoured indigestion tabs get rid of the indigestion but make me feel sick :puke:

I can't take anything now because indigestion medicine can stop my OC medication from working, I've also been advised to cut down on dairy products so does anyone have any alternative tips?

Must say when I recently bought a pack of Rennies for the first time it was like a wonder drug for me as I'd been suffering with indigestion for quite awhile - being stubborn I didn't want to take any form of medication during my pregnancy, but finally gave in, the best thing I've done throughout the whole pregnancy if you ask me!!!
Sorry no advice for you Katty, can't say that has been any sort of food that didn't give me indigestion :?

I have suffered woth heartburn even before i fell pregnant and been on strong tabs obviously unable to take now, but i found what really works is the rennie soft minty chews they taste just like normal chewy mints very yummy and safe to take as often as you like while pregnant they about a couple of quid for a pack of 3 tubes xxxx

THe rennie ones are really nice hev you should try them xx
