When I had my fall last Friday, they listened to my heart in hospital and said I had a heart mumur, which I have never known anything about.

I have to have an echocardiogram (heart scan) in 2 weeks to see where the mumur is coming from etc, how bad it is. They said I may need to be monitored more in labour now because of this.

Has any one else got a heart mumur or have any experience on this and how it affects you in pregnancy/labour? Do you think they may suggest I have a caesarean?

Thanks in advance! :D

i don't know much a bout heart murmurs jade apart from that you can get temporary ones like when you are pregnant and then they disappear after. has this been picked up before and did they suggest it could disappear?

They have never picked it up before Lisa, and they didnt say anything about it disappearing!! They didnt say much at all about it really, just that id need to have a scan and go from there

i know we have had a kids in the past that have had had heart murmurs that disappear either by growing out of them or had them when they are poorly and they have gone when they are better. Hope its something that simple for you x

All I know is my cat has one and it doesnt affect him in the slightest but I suppose thats not much help!!!

So have some

hiya hun i have worse than a heart mumor and it doesn't affect me otehr than 4 weekly checks on my heart (ecco's) to see how i is coping with the pregnancy, i wouldn't worry also i'm able to labour too (not anymore cas i have had 2 previous c sections but that's different lol) they will probaly just monitor your heart more during labour (like they did me when i was in labour with james) if you get distressed in labour then they will consider a c section but don't worry tehy will only watch you as a precaution i'm sure you'll be ok, i think tehy haven't told you much becasue they don't know much themselfs, once you had the ecco it'll give them more of a idea of your heart mumer (excuse spelling lol) and then they can tell you more, good luck with your ecco hun and i hope that the mummer is not that bad :D
and yes you can get mummers during preg and they go after so you never know you might be luckky, but often people go about their whole lifes with one and don't know till things like your fall happen

my brother has heart murmur, but it has never affected him =)

you got nothing to worry about

hi jaidy -

i have had a heart murmur all of my life. and i went on to carry oliver full term and gave birth naturally in water no intervention at all.

I occasionally get the odd skipped beat and a bit of a sharp pain but i was told this is fine.

Tell your midwife you want to have checkups every so often to make sure if your that worried, but im sure youll be fine anyway.

Other than that enjoy pregnancy it goes way too quickly anyway :D

if you have any Q'sor concerns feel free to PM me

Thanks so much everyone for your replies, you have all put my mind at ease, although silly as i sounds I have fears now im going to have a heart attack in labour or something!!! Irrational I know!

Will let you know the out come of the scan, thanks again your all so lovely
