Hi,
Please excuse my English, it's not my first language.:oooo: I've never dealt with NHS before, and it's my first pregnancy (if it's pregnancy).
I stopped taking pills 4 months ago, my period is 17 days late now. I bought a test in Tesco (×2 kit), and both tests were definitely positive. But I had false positive tests and missed periods before, because of corpus luteum cyst and polycystic ovaries. So I registered with a GP and after 3 days I had an appointment.
The GP lady was nice and wanted to help, but she said there is no one in practice who can interpret a Hcg blood test. She consulted with her colleagues, and the only thing they can do is refer me to antenatal clinic (in hospital) so I can wait for appointment there. For a week or maybe more, they can't say. And I can register with a midwife, if I'm pregnant (It's Scotland).

I'm not sure what to do now. I thought GP can help me at least with blood test.( Is the only thing I can do is wait for appointment in antenatal clinic?

I've just got a call from GP, she said they won't refer me to antenatal clinic and recommend to go to private practice for blood test or 6 weeks ultrasound. I don't know to do :help:Do I need a private clinic? How to find it in Glasgow? I'm completely lost...

What kind of moron can't interpret it? It says what your HCG level is and they can even order order it to clearly say pregnant or not pregnant. I'd try going to another GP as that one sounds crap!

Thank you WinterWolf! Yes it was very strange. I said "I think I need a blood test, because I had false positive tests before and just need confirmation" - GP lady seemed confused and said she has to ask colleagues about it. I was sure it's not difficult at all(. Fortunately there are more surgeries in my area, I'll try to ask there about test. Thanks.

Yes I agree with winterwolf try a different surgery as a hcg blood test is easy to interoperate they are just being stupid to be fair. I know it's different in Scotland aswell so I would day try a different gp and just go from there
