Does anyone know if there are any antihistamine treatments you can take while breastfeeding?

Mine is starting to rear its ugly head :x

Good question I have been googling this already last night AND this morning and have come up with nothing. A trip to Boots is on the cards today me thinks! I'm itching all over and my eyes and nose are feeling horrible!!!!!

I am guessing though that we won't be able to take any antihistamines so it will need to be the homeopathic New Era tablets (Ive used them before) for us girls!

When I was breast feeding my son 3yrs ago, my doctor prescribed me with Piriton for an allergic reaction I had and said I could take it for my hayfever too. I don't usually take that but he said I wasn't to take my normal tablets. However I sent my mum to the chemist for some yesterday and they said I should only use homeopathic remedies so I've booked myself in to see the doctor.
I also use Beconase nasal spray and opticrom eye-drops because mine can be very severe and doc said these were fine. x

Yeh i had it when I had an allergic reaction, im sure there will be something you can take... If you fine something i'd be interested to know as ive been suffering this week.

been to 2 chemists and they said you need to go to doctor :wall:

I am ready to scratch my eyeballs out!

will try ringing doc and will post what they say

DebbieM- did those homeopathic ones help?

I had hayfever when pg and the doctor said he thought it was best not to take anything in tablet form because not enough research has been done to show that it's safe - I can't imagine pregnant women volunteering to test a drug with unknown risks! I got a nasal spray and while it wasn't the best remedy it did make it manageable x

I went to boots today and was told i could take piriton - the drowsy one though.

BUT i also found a new product called Hay-Max which is a balm you put around your nose - i've got a small pot and its rather good! (if you google it you can find out some info on it)

Doctor prescribed me Piriton, a nasal spray and some eye-drops. I'm going to try to manage with the spray and drops and just use the Piriton when I really need it. x

I suffer with hayfever terribly and have done for years, it is relentless in the spring, my two year old also started to suffer this summer aswell - someone recommended hayfever remedies prescribed by the Hay Fever Clinic, I asked at the Drs and they referred me, great!! and definitely helped me more that the over the counter stuff.

Hope this helps : )
