have i just had a show? TMI

hiya ladies,

I was wandering around carpet right earlier and had a few really sharp pains low down at the front behind my pubic bone, it felt like he was biting me!

They were really painfull but didnt last long. When i got home i put my feet up and have just been generally uncomfy all night in that area and in the small of my back. I have had a lot more pressure in that area the last couple of days and thought maybe the head was just sinking down a bit.

I was just about the go to bed and after wiping i found a large blob of Jelly. It was clear but with a few streaks of blood through it. It was kind of stretchy (sorry) Im wondering if maybe it was a show, but now im worried about having an infection. Should i go to bed and deal with it in the morning or should i ring the hospital and get checked out? Jamie has to be up for work at 4am so dont want to mess him about if i dont need to.

Any advice appreciated.

A trip to the hospital last night confirmed that i did have a show. The pains are being caused by a UTI. They have given me antibiotics! They dont think ill make it to my induction date! Exciting stuff eh!

no. perhaps yours is just normal vaginal discharge ebony. don't worry.

Ebony, this was a large amount of jelly. It was really out of the blue aswell cos i generally dont have much discharge to speak of. A lot of women have increased disscharge during pregnany, but if its a funny colour or smell or abnormal amounts then just mention it to your midwife, she can do a swab to test for infection.

Budge, they said due to his size it wouldnt be a concern him coming very soon, allthough id rather he stayed put till my induction date, Im in no hurry, i think im just so scared of something going wrong again. Im getting induced at 38 weeks.

Its very understandable you are scared hun but it sounds to me like this little guy is just in a hurry to meet his fantastic mummy, daddy and sister. He's obviously well grown and just in a bit of a rush bless him.
It will be fine, cant wait to see the pics of you all together

I've had the same thing today & you've just confirmed it was a SHOW! Is it normally quite soon after that babs comes?

ooooh! mad isnt it!

Ive had people tell me that they have had a show and the baby has come very soon after, with my last 2 deliveries i didnt have a show until hours before they were born. Ive also had people tell me that they had a show 2 weeks before baby arrived. i had my show last monday and other than a suspected slow trickle of amniotic fluid and some cramping...i still have no babe in arms!

I would take this opportunity to just get organised if not allready, and be prepared. baby will come when its ready, may be soon but could be another week or so.

Good dvice Ali! I'm convinced it was a show I know this is gross but it was like a rubber stretchy boogie but it was clear not bloostained as some people discribe... I searched it on google and it said it can be boodstained, brown or clear so lets hope babs is on its way. I'm pretty much organised, bags packed, room ready just waiting on delivery of car seat and pushchair which still could be a week or so. Did you contact your midwife when you had your show?

Yeh it sounds like a show to me hun!

I dont have a midwife, cos i have a high risk pregnancy i have full hospital care with the midwives in the clinic and as it was in the evening when i had my show the clinic was shut so i rang labour ward for a bit of advice. Cos of my history they allways demand i go up there for reasurrance. they tested my urine and found i had a uti and gave me antibiotics. they also monitored baby.

I would give the midwife a ring if your worried or are having any pains, if not then id definately ring her in the morning.

I had lots of show and weeks before Damien came, it kept coming and it does rebuild itself if baby isn't coming soon hun. It's gross, snotty stuff coming out there isn't nice!
