Im pretty sure ky has an ear infection. he keeps rubing it, and its very waxy compaired to the other one. We take him swimming quiet alot so im think he might of got water in his ear.

Any other mums with babies that have had an ear infection what did the doctor say? Did they just say to use paracetamol til it goes or did they prescribe something?

If its just a case of it clearing on its own i wont take him or do you think i should just get it checked out?

Lol i feel like a regular at that bloody doctors!

Poor Ky :(

Jacob had an ear infection when he was 5 weeks old  He wasn't himself for a few days and had the runs, then he started to cry constantly and went off his feeds. We took him to A & E and he was admitted to the childrens ward. A doctor looked in his ears and said they were 'a bit red'. He was put on regular Paracetamol and we were discharged the with a diagnosis of Gastroenteritis and colic!!!

I just knew there was something else wrong and a day later I noticed that his ear was discharging badly so took him back to the doctors and she confirmed that he had an ear infection! He was really unwell but after about 48 hours of antibiotic he was loads better :D

I would get Ky checked out if I were you hun, once they get bad ear infections it can be really painful for them! He's still only little so better to make sure if he's rubbing it alot and it's more waxy. I thought the discharge in Jacob's ear was wax at first until it turned white

Hope the little guy is alright

I remember Aimee having an ear infection when she was tiny. She didn't really seem too unwell but she had thick brown stuff coming out of her ear. I rang NHS direct and they said it sounded normal but I wasn't happy with that so I took her to the GP anyway. It was an ear infection and he gave her antibiotics.

aww the poor mite :(

christopher had infections in both ears when he was 6 months..he wasnt him self and was very sleepy and hot 38.8  so i gave him calpol but in the evening he began vomiting and was very very hot yet shivering..so he was seen by the emergency doc and the poor mite had very red/swollen ear canals both sides. but he was much better 48hrs after antibiotics kicked in :D

the doc told us that they can get "ear ache" which is not infected just needs treating with nurofen/calpol BUT if they develop a temp/drowsy/refuse to eat then its a sign that an infection has developed and the only cure is antibiotics

so my advice is if he has a temp/ is drowsy or wont eat then get himn to a doctor as he may have an infection but if he is just pulling at his ear try calpol/nurofen for a few days and see how he goes

Tia had chronic ear infections as a baby... She would often bang or pull at her ear when they started...and the wax would leak out and gank up her hair. She would be prescribed antibiotics and pain killers because she'd be in pain and get a temp too...when she had about 3 in a month they took a swab to see which antibiotic would be best...

Poor thing though...it was so sad to see Tia have them...They are horrible...I hope you lo gets better soon..
