Im thinking, instead of getting a crib/moses basket, I could get this

Now Im not sure if you can use this each night like that? Once baby is big enough to go into the cot, then I will use it as a playpen so saving money lol

Can you give me your views or experience please!! :D

We are using travel cot in our room for LO (since she grew out of moses basket).
We also have a separate mattress for her in it as I thought the thing that comes with it as a "mattress" type thing was not supportive enough.

If we need to leave LO for few mins (for loo etc) now that she is crawling we put her in her Leapfrog activity centre/jumperoo/highchair/car set as she can't get out of these. It is rare that we leave her for any longer. We also have a huge paddling pool (1.5 metres wide) blown up in our lounge which we put towels in and let her play in there with nappy off time - it's so much easier to manage than having her free to roam on carpet and keep moving her back on towels.

I think go for it! Most travel cots have a facility to place the base higher so you can reach LO easier. That travel cot looks lovely.

Her cot in her room is full of clothes for her!! We have been given sooooo many and we have nowhere to put them at the moment!

Calleigh has slept in a travel cot in our room since she was a few weeks old, she hated her moses basket. She would keep whacking her arms off the sides of the basket and hit herself in the face, so as her cotbed wouldnt fit in our room we bought a travel cot.
She has slept so much better in this as she can lay out with her arms and legs spread :)
I have a Hauck travel cot with the bassinette in, which i think they can sleep in till they are 4 months old.
Then they have to sleep at the bottom of the cot..
I plan on having her sleep in it till she goes in her own room around six months.

Some babies do prefer the security of a nice enclosed moses basket though, so maybe you could swaddle baby if thats the case. I have no experience of that tho so someone may come up with a suggestion for this.

It is definately one of my best buys for little one :D

We had a moses basket for Charlie but because he is so long, it only lasted till he was about 11 weeks. We had bought a travel cot for when we visit hubby's family and Charlie loved it. He is still sleeping in our room but his cot bed was too big to fit in so he has been sleeping in the travel cot until he moves into his own room and like you said it can also be used as a play pen when they are bigger. So from my experience it has been well worth the money :D

Oooh thanks ladies!!
I have been worried about the need for closeness charlie84! My first son wouldnt even sleep in a crib! But hopefully this baby will be ok! And it had a hood over one end so if i use growbags he can have that over and hopefully feel safe!! :D
I think I may order that soon then!! :D

we looked at this one, it looks very good but the write up does says its heavy and not the easiest to put up however for what you want it for it would be great i would have thought.
The main reason we didnt get it or one like it is my dad gave me a beautiful crib so didnt have to buy either :D

After reading this i'm now investing in one. After looking on ebay they're loads cheaper from ebay shops.

I have that travel cot!!

It's height adjustable, has a changer, mobile and a sounds thing for lullabys etc (not put batteries in yet!)

If you have not yet joined Babies R Us club, do, and they will send you lots of vouchers including '£10 off when you spend £70 or more' voucher! which is what we did :)

I'm not sure how great the matress would be for regular use though.

We do also have his cot bed which we got in Ikea and the mattress for that was from Ikea too as seemed to be the cheapest around.

It did take me a while to get the thing up when testing it though :wall: longer than building the Ikea one from Flatpack!!

I bought a moses basket, swinging crib and a cot which were all a waste of money as my son didn't sleep in any of them.

I would recommend you buy a travel cot. I bought one and my lo slept in it for a couple of hours at night. We co-sleep now.

The only thing is that you have to check what the weight limit is on the bassinette. The one I had was a max of 3.5kg, so we never used that part very long.

We don't use it just now, but I know it will come in handy in a couple of months. xxx

My friends LO outgrew his moses basket a week before I gave birth so we got that. If it weren't for that we were intending using a travel cot - the Graco Electra - but we've put that to my parents' house now. I phoned Graco to ask if the cot was suitable to use as a permanent cot and they said yes.

The mattress is not particularly thick and supportive but neither is a moses basket mattress which is why we put her in her cot at 5 weeks.

Thankyou everyone!!
I feel so much better about it now!
Kalia I didnt think of phoning them up lol so thanks for telling me you have!!
Wii.fit.queen thanks for reminding me to check the weight of the bassinet!!
Lucie! I forgot about the Babies R Us club! Yay Im going to sign up now!! My aunts giving me her cot bed! Her DD never sleeps in it so its like new! Ikea is fab though isnt it!? I love Ikea!
LisaJ1986 Ooh I forgot to look on ebay! i will check it out now and see it I can find this one for less!! :D :cheer:
Hennaly somehow I feel better knowing you looked into this! I know you have plenty of experience with babies! :D

Just for the record I think its a wicked idea  Especially as it has the raised bit for when LO is really little so you don't have to keep bending over. I used one for Isaac when he started toddling about and it kept him nice and contained for an hour or so during the day while I got my housework done. I don't know what I would have done without it tbh. And unlike a swing or bouncer they can still move about and play and stand up without hurting themselves :D

You'll get loads of use out of it!

Lou :D

Jacob slept in the carrycot next to my bed for about 15 weeks...then he got too big for it. I felt it was too early to put him in the cot in his nursery (can't bear the thought of him not sleeping near me so I know he's ok..I know I have to 'grow out' of that and him be independent one day soon). Anyway, so we bought a travel cot and put it in our bedroom and got a luxury mattress off ebay so its extra comfy for him.

He sleeps well in it. And its great for when we visit family..easy to transport so we always have a safe place for him to sleep which he is happy with.

:cheer:
