Hi ladies,
I posted in high risk too but just asking if anyone has had the Harmony test? X

I had the Harmony test, had a 1:5 chance of downs with my daughter so opted for amniocentesis (wasn't aware of harmony or if it was available). Wasn't taking any chances with the useless combined/triple test with this pregnancy (a friend had a 1:45,00 chance and has a little boy with downs). I paid for the test at 11 weeks and feel really reassured that I did, results took just over a week to come back all clear.

Amy x

Oh Amy thats great news! Im having blood taken tomorrow for mine and hope I get my results quickly too. Yeah the combined test is just crap isnt it! X

I don't even know what the harmony test is - I presume a further blood test from what you've said, but I wish you the best with the results. I don't understand how the combined test is rubbish though / it's just a statistical guess combining different factors. Your baby could always be that '1' no matter how low the risk X

I had the harmony test, NHS came back 1 in 141 chance the harmony confirmed low risk 1 in 10,000

Vic30, I have been advised at the hosputal by a consultant who specialises in foetal medicine that the nt test is unreliable and actually can cause more unnecessary anxiety. Im aware its a screening tool but either way it doesnt actually tell anyone very much. There have been high results with no issues and low risk for babies with severe abnormalities. Apparently in 2018 the nt test is going to be replaced by the Harmany test so clearly the nhs feel its a useless test! X

I see. So what is the harmony test at the moment? An extra blood test for those whose results have come back high risk? Oh yes, that's exactly what I was saying. I've always just presumed it was a 'guess' based on age, nuchal fold, hormone blood test. Of course it can cause unnecessary stress, you can always have that 1 in chance. Mine is 1 in 1041 but that doesn't really put my mind at rest. It's probably my age (though I'm not that old) based on age I was told I had a 1 in 400 chance and my pappa-a is low so all I can presume is that the nuchal fold wasn't a high number. Either way it's just a statistical guess so I don't get how it's rubbish as there's always the chance you could be low risk and have a baby with Down's Syndrome X

Hope your results come back quickly for you Selina :hugs: Inwqs waiting for a call and mine was emailed, doh x

With the harmony test the blood gets sent to a genetics lab which is tested more accurately where as the NHS only send the blood to a bio lab which is on 85% accurate,
