I would like to wish my Partner a Happy Due Date!! :cheer:

Never imagined she'd go full term, so am having to go back to work tomorrow to save last years holiday that I've taken over... grrr

Getting bored now and desperate to meet our baby!! At least it's going to be a 2009 baby!

Happy New Year All!!

Well it's not gonna be far off! Just returned from hospital!!

Partners waters broke just after 1pm today, had a little pinkish blood after gush of clear fluid so they asked us to go in. Baby and partner checked over we have been sent home waiting for contractions to intensify and become regular, so which is what we've done, and which they are...

Partner is just having a bath to help stimulate them a bit! Any other suggestions welcome!?! If she doesn't go into labout then we're booked in for inducement Sunday Morning...

Not bad timing, obviously going to be punctual like her father ;)

get her to be active - walking around etc. If you have a ball, get her to try bouncing around on that.

Good luck!!

As Sam&Alice says walking about is the best thing, when I went into labour and my contractions weren't strong enough I was sent for a walk round the hospital and told that stairs are a good thing too!

OOh congrats and good luck!! also i would say get her to eat something high in slow release carbs as once she is in established labour and in hosp they dont like you to eat and she is gonna need some energy!! best of luck

am i right in thinking after waters have gone some of the *cough* normal things to help bring labour on are not recomended.....

also, i was moaned at for laying on my back too much

S&A if you mean sex, then YES not good as could cause infection...

She's got back/period pain and having painful tightnings lasting about 45seconds, so were timing the intervals...

yay! also i was told that its not really how often that is THAT important, its more the intensity of the contraction and how long its lasting

Zoe's contractions are a bit irregular 3mins, 7.5mins, 3 mins, 7mins 41secs, 3mins32

contractions are lasting between 50seconds and 1min11...

Gonna wait till 9:30pm and call the Hossy...

baths aren't really reccomended after your waters have broken, either! but i suppose it's a bit late, lol.

Cheers Charlotte, have just banned her from having any more baths... good thinking ;)

sorry to go off topic but i heard about the bath thing too does anyone know why this is? i dont understand as u are allowed in the pool once waters have gone?

ooo.... ive just remembered something that helped for my back pain... a heat pad. I seem to remember them putting one on my back at some stage  . i was pretty much spaced out by this point though as it was the early hours of the morning and the pethadine was taking effect. Couldn't even tell you what it looked like, but alice was back to back, and my back was killing me! i will willing for anything.

Maybe a hot water bottle or wheat bag if you have one may help? not to hot though...

how exciting! hopefully you won't have long to wait!

pass on our best wishes

As for the bath i assume its cause its not kept as sterile as a birthing pool  Not sure tbh with you.

Cheers for all your thoughts gals!

Have made her a hot water bottle, but she's having more intense contractions, just gonna phone the hossy now, might be off soon...

Will update when possible!

Well after returning to hospital shortly after my last post, contractions came on thick n fast!

She was examine after some codene at 11.30pm and was 2-3cm dilated, she then could stand the pain any more and had pethedine, was able to get an hours sleep and by 2am she was fully dilated! They couldn't believe it! No wondered she was in so much pain. After 3.5 hrs hard pushing, she was taken to theatre for some surgical assistance...

My partner Zoe, gave birth (with a little assistance) to our baby girl this morning at 6:08am weighing 8 Pound 7 Ounces...

Over the moon, just nipped home for a shower and a couple hours kip as we've been up all night!!

Thank you...

Dom x
