This maybe a strange question.....

Are we able to use VEET / Immacc / other hair removal creams on bikini lines? I also want to do top of my legs too as they quite hairy prior to induction next week.

Thanks
F.

Sorry I don't know the answer but I'll be watching this thread, I assume you can just be aware the skin may be more sensitive now. I've always used veet on that area but had to give up at 25ish weeks as I couldn't see properly a burnt myself a little. Yesterday I used oh's beard trimmer (and cleaned it!) as I just hate being so hairy! I know the midwives won't care but I do

I wouldn't use it as your body's more sensitive when pregnant, I just used simple soap and a razor :)

I was wondering this too, so just checked the veet website which says you can but bear in mind skin could be more sensitive during pregnancy. But they recommend hair removal creams whilst pregnant and if you prefer waxing only do this after nursing x

You'd be surprised how sensitive your skin gets, maybe do a tester on your legs before moving on to the fanjo? I only say that because I had the lot waxed off the other week and was sore for days and today sat in the garden naked for about half an hour and my skin feels absolutely ruined (I'm spanish and Arabic so generally don't need sun protection... Especially in England!) x

Thanks ladies for your replies.

I will give it a miss then if skin can be even more sensitive. I was also thinking of trying to myself waxed at a beauty clinic if they can fit me in and if that fails, i will have to try shaving using a mirror! :-/

I'm still managing to shave everythin below the waist! It's tricky and done completely be feel as I havnt seen my bits for months but the end results seem ok. I actually find reaching the bottoms of my legs harder! I do it in the bath as it's easier to get in to different positions without fear of falling.

I prefer no hair down there so am used to shaving very regularly (like every 2-3 days while in the shower). I'm sticking with shaving. I'm only 29 weeks but as the above poster said, this is done purely on feel now as I can't see lol.

But if your skin is sensitive, try using oil to shave with! It's so moisturising and makes the razor glide over your skin so helps avoid itchy shaving rashes. I always use oil. You can literally use any oil, I started using olive oil. But now I use a mix of grape seed / sweet almond oil with a drop of lemon balm essential oil which makes it smell lovely. When your skin is wet just use a small amount of oil (like 5 or 10p size per leg or for your private parts), massage it in to your skin and just shave. The razor glides better and plus as the oil is water resistant, when you get out any excess oil is soaked in to your skin and makes it really smooth and soft.

Just two warnings...... obviously if doing it in the shower you need to be careful as if it gets on the bath it can be slippy. And if using on your legs and it's sunny outside, make sure you take time to wash off any excess oil using shower gel before going in the sun. I completely forgot that once and ended up with horribly sunburnt legs!!

Sorry to jump in but thought I would share a funny story of when I was heavily pregnant and close to the end

Basically as you ladies will know you cany see your feet towards the end so I askled my husband to shave me - first time was ok as wasnt too pregnant but was lying in the bath. The second time I couldnt be faffed with the effort of a bath so was in the shower.

Well............. picture it Ive had my shower and tell him Im ready (bless him hes a good yin) he asked what I wanted and I said shave it all off as I couldnt see it to do it.....his reply was neither can I? So one arm pushed against each wall of the shower and legs apart touching the sides of the shower pushing my lady garden at him - it gavce us both a laugh xx

I'm 38 weeks and had my regular wax a couple of weeks ago and it was so much more painful than usual. She swapped to hot wax from the normal wax as it hurts less, but because your more sensitive feels hotter than usual when it goes on.
So if you go to a salon I woukd recommend asking for hot wax (but it can often be a bit more expensive)
I woukd t do it yourself because if you are expecting it too hurt more, you may hesitate and cause bruising, especially as there is more blood flow to that area.

I'm booked in 3 days before my due date for my next wax...I hope the pain doesn't cause waters to burst or something!! X

They are just going to have to put up with a hairy lady when I go in. I don't like the thought of getting waxed and I can barely see past the bump now. I'll shave what I can, but really it's not my priority - all dignity is lost the moment you go into labour suite anyways

I have a lady shave, can't see a thing down there now but it's bit like a mans beard trimmer, set it on a short ish setting and go for it, stand in front of mirror and check lol.

My hospital actually has signs up in antenatal asking you to leave it natural! The reasoning is if you end up with a csection you're more at risk of infection and they will do the necessary trimming for you

Lucyboo, is that lady shave any good?

I have very sensitive skin down there anyway...don't fancy waxing as I reckon it will end in a disaster (I always do it myself anyway).

Oh dear.... Don't fancy anyone shaving my bush! ;)

I have used mine for years and think its great. obviously can't have it immaculate as can't see what I'm doing but I'd rather it be tidy and trim.. Lol

Oh thanks for your replies ladies they are all much appreciated.

I went for a wax last night on the bikini line and she kindly done the front part of the tops of my legs and as far round as she could go without me moving too much due to sciatica pain. So I've now got to try doing the back of my legs myself either with shaving or using some veet.

I'm still trying to convince hubby to help as I tried trimming myself with scissors today and got a bit too close to my bits using a mirror for my liking :-/

I was wandering about this. Went to the midwife yesterday and there was a poster up saying not to shave after 36 weeks. I couldn't read the rest as it was too far away. Bit puzzled as to why its a problem...

I've been thinking about this already recently too as I can no longer see my lady bits either. I made a right mess when I tried a few weeks ago

Might have to ask my OH to help. Although I didn't know we weren't supposed to shave after a certain point? xx

I haven't seen any info re not shaving and the girl who waxed me Wednesday didn't mention anything either as she's had 3 children!

Oh well too late now I guess tho it'll probably be a forest again by next week as I got fast hair growth from having pcos lol.
