Well my blood test showed my bile acid level was at 12 last week (should be between 0-10) though it has decreased to 8 today. The other levels tested for are fine so I just need to be checked by the consultant next week again. Apparently, OC is more common than I had thought.

Midwife said baby is engaged and very healthy so I'm happy, and look.....I'm on my last ticker pic! Woohoo! :D

i had it diagnosed at 37wks with josh, and they basically just monitored me, and referred me to a consultant who decided that they would induce on my due date to prevent me scrubbing my skin off and so baby was ok, depends how far on in your pregnancy you are

I read somewhere that they don't need to induce people early now due to new research showing it isn't necessary. I may be wrong though?

i had oc, but it was found at 29 ish weeks. i had daily traces, weekly tests, weekly scans, various meds, and was induced at 37 weeks.

each hospital has different protocals (sp) though.

if you ever need a chat/have questions, feel free to pm me. im no expert, but i can tell u what happened to us :)

try not to worry. my MW said stress can be a contributing factor. easier said than done though

I hope things go ok for your Mermaid!

Aw thanks Jaidy!

Sam I was reading your posts from before as I remembered you had OC and was induced. Thanks for offering the support, I may just pm you at some point! Hopefully things will be fine. :D

I had it too and had my LO at 36+6. I was put on medication called ursofalk.

If you do have it I would insist on having baby early if I were you. I did a lot of research on the subject and there are a lot of ladies that have had this condition that would disagree with any proffessional that says early birth isn't necessary. I don't want to scare you but its better to be safe than sorry. How bad is the itching? i found that putting my hands and feet in iced water heped but means you can't sleep. Have you checked out the OC sticky there is loads of info there.

I have my fingers crossed your levels return to normal but insist on regular monitering from now on

hope all is ok too mermaid, keep us posted xx

no worries, any time. i don't know who i managed through my pregnancy without the support of the ladies on here

i kept a damp towel/flannel in the fridge incase the itching was really bad. i would wrap that round my feet.

i have only found one case on the net where they insisted the pregnancy went on for longer, and what was because the babies lungs where not well enough developed for them to deliver happily. my hospital where quite firm in delivering early. one mw wasn't happy i went 1 day over 37 weeks.

let us know how it goes. take it easy hun.

Aw it's great to have all your support.

The itching is only on the soles of my feet and it seems worse when I'm hot and at night. I need to research a bit more as the midwife has told me nothing about OC really. Perhaps they don't want to worry me until we know if I have it. I'm going to read the sticky on here.

i knew more than my consultant :wall: !! my gp hadn't even heard of it! the mw's that ended up looking after me where fab though.

 lol Sam, i knew more than all the docs too!! Mermaid check out itchymoms.com, the moderater on that site was so helpful and knowledgable and answered my emails really quickly :)

I know nothing about it, but wanted to wish you good luck! I think most pregnancy itching is hormone related, but I'm so pleased you're getting it all checked out, and I really hope the 2nd test is clear

I had it with Jack and was told under no circumstances would i be able to go over 37 weeks

The gave me 2 sterooid shots for babys lungs and was put on loads of meds and monitered twice a week with Scans

It does sound scary but if they catch it early and get you on meds all will be well

Please don't scare yourself by trying to read too much on the net as i nearly went out of my tree reading scare stories :?

xSuzx has had it with all 3 of her children if i remember rightly

Feel free to Pm me with any questions and i'll try my best to answer them hun
