I had my first midwife's appoitment yesterday in which nothing really happened, she didn't talk about much, just made a guess at my dates and took some information. Was a bit disappointed actually :(

She wouldn't book me in for a dating scan and the next time I see her is on 5th March for my booking appointment so just thought, sod it, I will pay for a private scan and then could not get a private appointment anywhere near brighton for a few weeks, it was rubbish so have now booked one in Kent for thursday :cheer:

Bit nervous now!!!

So will I have another scan at my booking appointment? I am sure I know this but my brain is made of jam at the moment!! :D

my gp said that i wouldn't hear from my mw till i'm 10-12wks?
good luck with your scan

It differs in different areas. I didn't see a midwife until 12 weeks, which was the booking in appmt.

It was just a waste of time really, I would have rather waited till the booking appointment as there really wasn't much point to it.

The only thing she did do was try and get an appointment at Kings Hospital in London for the nuchal test as Brighton don't do them.

I had my booking app today and she booked my next scan for the 21st feb 2 weeks yay! From what I have read most of you are dissapointed with your midwife appointments but mine was really good :?

Thats wonderfull news! im bet your really excited about tomorow! Good luck and let us know how it goes. post us a picture!

Madame bully i saw my midwife yesterday and i thought it was a waste of time, she has booked me in for a scan in 3 weeks at the rsch, and im having a booking in appointment on the 22nd, she offered me the london scan, but tbh i didnt understand what the differance was to the scan at the rsch and the london one, i emailed bupa about a private scan and they said i need a gp referal and guide price is 275 pounds, ouch!

My midwife appointment was really good. She was really helpful and spent loads of time with us doing our forms, answering questions and showing us around the birthing centre.
You dont have to admit to a private scan so you will still get your 12 week scan. Sometimes they dont bother giving a 12 week scan if all was ok at a private scan so I just didnt mention having a private scan and have my 12 week scan on 22nd Feb :cheer: :cheer:

The Nuffield Hospital in Woodingdean do it for £130 but I am going here

http://www.kentmedicalimaging.co.uk/

Costing about £50 and it's not that far and I am from Kent originally so it just made sense seeing as the Nuffield couldn't do until the end of Feb.

I have my first appointment on the 12th feb i will be 10 weeks then i didn't bother to book one before as i don't see the point, fingers crossed she will book my scan for a few weeks later :D

I personally would just have my free 12 week scan and then if you want to book another scan and pay for one, go for the 4d scan when you are a bit more along i did that with my last boy at 28 weeks and was amazing you will see far more than you would booking and paying for a early one and they will just look for the same things you get on your 12 week scan... i have some photos somewhere of my 4d scan if anyone wants to see them ? i could post them up if thats allowed :D
