And all is fine :)
BP was perfect, Bubs heartbeat was great and my bump measurements are right on course.
Got my Mat B1 form as well.
She went thru ante natal classes but we have booked it thru NCT.
She then went thru signs of pre eclampsia and also a liver condition that only occurs in pregnancy: signs of this are itchy hands and feet. But she said its quite rare.
She asked if I have had any BH yet but I havent felt any tightening.
As Bubs is now at the actively moving stage, she said I should be feeling 10 movements over the course of a day. If I notice a decrease in my usual amount then I have to sit down, have something to eat and an ice cold drink. If that still doesnt get a reaction Ive to call her. She said the majority of the time everything is fine tho but likened it to when you feel unwell all u want to do is curl up and sleep, so it cud be an indication that Bubs isnt happy.
I asked, out of interest, about weight gain in pg. She said they dont worry about it and dont weigh pg women. As long as the baby is growing at the right rate then they are happy. They do weigh u at ur booking in apt and at ur 36 wk apt but this is purely to calc ur BMI.
All in all it was a good appointment. Next one is at 28 weeks :)

glad to hear it all went well hun. your mw sounds more informative than mine. to me she felt like she just wanted me out of there were too impressed x

Your MW sounds great! Very thorough and helpful. I wasn't too impressed with mine either.

Also, she weighed me, which is never an amusing experience.

Wow lots more info from your MW at your app than mine last week though she hadn't been informed I was there waiting for her so I sat there for 20mins before she came out!! My next one is at 29.5 weeks as I am on holidays over the 28 week one, can't wait. Interesting to ear 10 movements a day, I'd say my LO moves every hour at the mo so that's a good gauge. So glad all is well. Kxx

really good info jomc.

i was worried on sunday night coz i realised that baby hadn't moved much on Sunday so i had a cold drink and it worked!! after about 5 mins he started moving around :)

i had an appt today as i see a specialist for my stomach problems and she is a maternity dr. she told me today that if at any point again i feel like little man isn't moving around i should go to the labour ward and they will check for me, any time of day or night. so good to know ladies! i assume all hospitals offer this.

She also said that from 26 weeks onwards movement is a lot more than it is before.

jomc, what did she say are the signs of pre eclampsia? xx

For pre eclampsia she said to look out for a headache that doesnt get better with paracetamol and u may also get floaters in front of ur eyes. Not to be confused with just standing up too quickly and getting starry eyed. Also, abnormal swelling in ur hands and feet. She said a bit of swelling is normal but to watch out for anything excessive

No probs hun.
Have to say shes a lovely midwife, really takes her time. My hairdresser told me that she had her for her first baby and requested her for the second! She did say that they doesnt take any sh1t tho lol

Glad all is well and sounds like ur midwife was very thorough at your appointment! X

Your midwife really does sound brilliant. Mine didnt even ask for my sample last time I went, I remembered on my way out and she seemed a bit put out i'd remembered to give it her. She has never measured my bump size either, at what stage do they start doing this? xx

Yay :cheer: That's brilliant. It all feels so real now! Last time I saw the midwife was 16 weeks so it's nice to start seeing the midwives more frequently.

I have my 25 week appointment tomorrow, glad I saw your post so I can get an idea of what to expect :) xxx

Wow, your MW sounds fab. And thanks for sharing the information, really useful.

They measured my bump at 16 weeks but she didnt plan on it... she just did it as she had a trainee and the trainee was having trouble measuring baby with just her hands so they decided to use the measuring tape. So the impression I got is that they dont do til ur 25 wks. But I think it differs with each midwife

Ahhh, I was wondering what happened cos I've got mine in a couple weeks. I was wondering if they gave you an indication of what baby weighed. Maybe not quite yet though x

Not sure about babies weight but I did get told at my 22wk scan that the baby weighed 1 pound 3 ounces :)
