Our LO has had a bad eye almost since birth. It weeps green puss and it gets that bad sometimes that it glues its self shut. We have taken him to the doctor many times to try and get him sorted. It never got us any where. They gave us different types of eye drops which I believe were a form of penecilin. His eye just got worse with them so we were told to stop them and continue bathing his eye. We did this and it was just getting worse, it was very inflamed and sore. We decided to take him back again last week and he was then perscribed an oral form of penecilin to take. I was quite shocked at this actually with him being so young but I just assumed they knew best.
Anyway I was due to go and stay at my mums for a few days. I started his medication that day and got picked up in the evening to go and stay with her. We started to notice symptoms appearing such as a rash, diarrhea, sickness, tiredness. By the end of the second evening he was so bad that his diarrhea was flowing over the top of his nappy and managed to get all over the carpet. We decided to take him to A&E. I wasn't going to let him get any worse.
We were seen straight away when we arrived. The doctor had a very good look at him and told us he was probably allregic to the medication. We were told to stop giving the medication and to starve him for 24 hours. We had to give him lots of water to re hydrate him. We also had some powder saches to add to water to help get his stomach back to normal. We were also given some more eye drops! The ones that he should have had in the beginning, they are working as they should this time.
I can't believe my GP. Every time I go it just seems to make things worse. When I was pregnant I had a rash on my face that was burning and itching - he gave me achne cream!
I had a miscarriage and I knew I had an infection after as I was still bleeding 4 months later - his answer was I will put you on the pill!! I had to go back 3 times before he finally listened and gave me antibiotics.
I have a problem with my episiotomy at the moment and went to see him the other day. I have been given thrush cream. My OH is going to see if he can get us in some where else instead.
