gumming me when feeding

my daughter keeps catching my nipple with her gums when i feed her,its not every time, mainly if she is very hungry. I now shout at her poor girl.

Has anyone else had this? and how did you get them to stop? my daughter is 6wks so not as if she is teething.

My nct dropin is closed for half term so i cant go get help for a couple of weeks.

I think the best thing is everytime that she does it take her off the breast, give her a little min then pop her back on, she should learn that if she's too quick or rushes then she loses out. If you think it hurts now, wait till she's got teeth

Unlatch and then pop back on, shes just realised shes got gums and she can feel something when shes doing it.

Holly likes to try turn round to look at Daddy when she has my nip min her mouth... I know she does it deliberately little madam...

melissa used to do that. i kinda got used to it and it didnt seem to hurt anymore

was glad i'd JUST stopped BFing when her first tooth came thru

Oliver's only gummed me once, when I was trying to get my nipple out of his mouth at the end of a feed - obviously he wasn't ready to let it go! If his feet are against any kind of surface though, he'll push himself up suddenly so it pops out of his mouth, and he looks all surprised and stares at me with his mouth open as if to say 'where's it gone?'
