So I have my GTT in just under 3 weeks, and I'm really worried about it tbh. Ever since they told me I apparently needed one (BMI) I just really haven't wanted to do it :(

I am just going to get on with it, though I've been really well all the way through so far (and at 24 I assume I'm lower risk?). But I'm just convinced for some reason I'm gonna get diagnosed with GD. Is there anything I can do now to avoid this? Or is it just something I'll either have or wont?

I've got GD, Picked up at 29 weeks so currently taking metformin & 4x blood sugar tests every day. Their now talking about putting me on insulin, get extra scans & appointments every Monday with consultants, nurses etc! Have to say very well monitored and looked after! There isn't really a way to prevent it, as told by my diabetic nurse who is wonderful , it can happen in any woman high bmi or not! I was gutted but it wasn't so bad when I was told everything about it! Good luck hun! Hope it isn't the case for you, however if it is you'll be in the best hands xx

I have had 4 GTTs and I haven't found them bad at all.

I was diagnosed at 18 weeks with my daughter and at 28 weeks with this one - currently controlled through diet alone, as with my daughter, so I'm not on any medication.

My bmi is fine, I don't have any family history of it, it's just all down to your placenta really. Please don't worry yourself, as mentioned above you have more scans, you're closely monitored and they won't allow you to go overdue which is a bonus!

I had it with first and getting tested early this time. Honestly it's really not that bad- the silver linings were more scans, and you don't pack loads of weight on! I ended up on insulin until 35 weeks until I could go back to diet controlled. My BMI was 27 so not very high, it's just your placenta. Defo don't worry, and just a hint for the test- take a good book or some mags, so boring!

I had it in my head that i would get it but i didnt so try not to panic.

I've had 2 with my last pg. One because my dad is diabetic, and another because I was measuring big on my bump. Both were clear. The worst part was having to down lucozade on an empty stomach. My friend had it as she had a twin pregnancy. From what she's said if you have GD, then they try to tackle it with diet, then metformin if diet doesn't work and sometimes you may need insulin. She was back to normal once the twins were born.

Thanks guys. Idk why I feel so awful about it, most things don't bother me :/ I just can't shake it!
