hi mummies
summers poo has been really green today normally it is yellow why is this, is there anything 2 worry about? she is breastfed

thanks xxx

Green poo in BF babies is normally a sign that LO is not getting enough hind milk. Is LO only having short feeds? Are you swopping boobs too often? When LO feeds, on the next feed pop her on the same boob so she gets all the hind milk out. Either that or have you eaten something different.. the only time Coopers had green poo was when i ate chinese :) If she seems ok in her self then i wouldn't worry if not them i'd speak to your gp x

This was happening with me too. I would always swap boobies after about 15-20 mins. This meant that Lottie ended up having too much fore milk. http://www.llli.org/FAQ/oversupply.html has good information. I have now corrected this but it sometimes still happens if I have eaten liver, spinich of cabbage. If I have eaten these things I can sometimes see a slight green tinge to milk I have expressed.

That website is really helpful - thank you! I have the same issue. Nathaniel has been doing explosive poos every now and then and is very windy. I am going to try to offer the same breast if he wants feeding 1-2 hours after last feed and see if that helps.

I spoke to my health visitor about this as Maia can have green poo every now and then. They just reassured me it was normal in breastfed babies. Thanks to everyone for the info about not getting enough hind milk that makes perfect sense Maia is a terrible feeder in public and just snacks so probably has too much fore milk. Sorry for typo on my mobile.
