aww how cute is that tank Mary. My cousin has had her fish for yrs and yrs in a small tank. :talkhand: woah no arguments though

I have to say I know very little about fish but have had them on and off most of my life. I used to have little tanks like those and thought that it was just typical goldfish that they died after a year or so.

5 years ago I "rescued" some goldfish after some twonk at my old work (at a hotel) who was organising a big function thought it would be a good idea to have fish as the table centrepieces. They left 60 of them behind with bread rolls floating in their water so most of the staff (including me) took pity on them. I have 2.

I actually decided to go out and get some advice from an aquarist and got a lovely hexagonal aquarium (it's a 25 litre) with filter for them. 5 years on they are huge and thriving and I'm going to have to get a bigger tank for them!

Bigger is better, same for any animal, but if you've got the tank I would only get 1 fish until you were able to get something bigger (you can get some amazing tanks from folk on freecycle) and get it a friend.
