I have two rather nasty tasting meds that im gonna have to give to alanna 3 and 4 times a day... she hates them! do you reckon i could express a bit of milk and suck that up in the syringe aswell to make it taste better? what does everyone else do for meds?

I've just seen on fb that you've given in with dummies. You can buy special dummies that you put medicine in so while she sucks her dummy she takes the medicine too. Hope that helps x x

I did mix her gavisgon with breastmilk and she did take it eventually. The dummy medicine device sounds good x

I mix Tegans Gaviscon with Boob milk and syringe it to her. hope alanna is ok xx

Id give it a go. :)

I was lucky in that Paige will eat anything...including medicine lol.

never had a problem with it my kids will take any medicine i give them i never tried to diguise(sp) it when they was babies and i would usually give it by syringe or just pop it in a teat and let them suck it down no matter how nasty it was, my ds9 now had meds daily and can easily swallow his large pill each morning with water and if any of the kids get ill they will take the meds off a spoon even the foul ones, they all love calpol though and would gladly take that over anything haha

Ive found the technique lol do it when she is crying, quick squirt in the back of her mouth, Done.

It depends on what they are, some meds are not supposed to be given with milk...

How much ranitidine is she on? Toby only has 0.4mls 2 a day!! Syringe is probably best bet, make it a game almost with something nice after (ie boobie ) I thunk the only reason Toby takes meds is co they are always with feeds so now I don't have to always feed him straight after iykwim

Btw, I think they are both ok with feeds although better to wait a bit after giving as ranitidine neutralises acid and comparisons helps gut move in right direction

She gets Ranitidine 0.6ml every 6 hours, and 0.5ml of Domperidone every 6 hours.. no fun :(

I asked the HV and she said the Domperidone takes about 20 minutes to work, so have to do it before a proper feed, but i think im getting the hang of putting it right in the back of her mouth and she will swallow!

^that is the same with Toby, I have given a few odd doses of gaviscon :( it seems a huge difference in the doses of ranitidine we are giving our children kat...
