Gestational Diabetes am I doing this right?

Ladies, I was told I have gestational diabetes. I'm 18 w 6 days pregnant and my GTT was 8.1
I've been told to monitor my glucose levels. My dietician said to test before I eat and hr after. Now I didn't think to ask and have been a bit confused about the when to test part. Do I test the 1 hr after I tested before so say for breakfast I test at 8 am eat and then test at 9 am so 1 hr after the first test? Or do I test eat and then hour after I eat so I test at 8am eat finish eating at say 8:40 and then test at 9:40am so 1 hr after eating? I've been testing the 1 hr after I finish eating as I have been eating really slow. It doesn't make since to test 1 hr after first test as it would be like 15 min or so left after I'm done eating.

my daughter has GD.. she tests upon waking, then one hour after finishing meal so, if you finish eating at, say 7.30 a.m. then test at 8.30 a.m. hope that helps

How are you finding testing Hun?

Yeah, ok I think. My blood sugar has been around 6.2-6.5 in the mornings, so I haven't been happy about that. Bit nervous about what my diabetic nurse will say about that. Still hope I'm doing this correctly.
