Further Gone?

I thought I was 20 weeks pregnant as of today/tomorrow but when I looked through my paperwork today after the 20 week scan it said the "gestationl age" of the baby is 21 weeks and 6 days so does that mean I'm actually 22 weeks or are they basing that on the 1st day of my last period which was 7th August? I thought I knew my dates, but maybe I am further along the line than I realised?!

ur dates wont change hun it will just be baby is measurin a little big, but thats normal x

I would have thought it meant you are in you are 21 weeks pregnant, and are in your 22nd week. Doctors usually count from the 1st day of your last period eventhough approx the first two weeks of that are actually prior to ovulation.

Maybe confirm by a quick call to you MW?

How did the scan go hon? Or have you posted elsewhere - sorry I'll go and check the other threads.

Ahhh maybe baby is bigger or they're calculating based on my last period...I'm sure it's 20 weeks! The scan went really well. all her measurements are fine and as they should be as well as her internal organs. She was also rubbing her face and swallowing the amniotic fluid today which was soooo cute! According to the specialist she looks like she should at this stage so the outlook is good! xxx

I was told to go by the date given in the 12 week dating scan which varied by a week from my dates. You get measured later on in your pregnancy, I had my 25 wk check up today and bump is measuring spot on!!

They wont change your date after you have had your dating scan it will just be baby measuring big or small, my baby measuring small for my dates but its not changed my due date

at my 12 week scan i was put back 4 days but at the 20 week scan i was put forward to the date i thought i was however the snographer said that at 19/20 weeks he said the baby was the right size for my dates infactly exsactly on and that if there is less than 10 days differenct they don't change your due date, however its something i'd ask my midwife if i was you
