Has anyone else been full term and their baby not been engaged at all.....as thats the position I find myself in today!

My son didn't engage at all until his due date. This baby is still free but according to the midwife keeps 'popping in and out'.

Even once baby's engaged it doesn't mean labour is imminent so I wouldn't worry hun

Congratulations on full term! :cheer:

Thanks- guess I just wanted to hear from someone that it was still possible that things would happen the way theyre meant to - was getting worried about all sorts of things like my placenta being in the way or my pelvis being too small - but even the possibility that it can still all be ok is enough to cheer me up a little. I know those things are still possible but if there's a third option of things still happening normally then thats grand - I just didnt remember anyone else not being engaged at such a late stage...

Chok - my midwife reckons I'm only 1/5 engaged but she said it wasn't unusual at our stage and she has reassured me theres plenty of time. :)

Hey hun!

Miss Evie didn't engage at all til 41/42 weeks. She was 1/5 engaged the Monday, 2/5 engaged the Tuesday & 4/5 engaged the Thursday (was being induced Friday) and then when the contractions were minute on, minute off, she turned back to back and 0/5 engaged lol.

Only when I'd been in labour for 7 hours did she engaged ready to come out. xx

James popped in and out, even from being 4/5 engaged  when I was in labour he was still only 2/5 when I was 4cm dilated but got there in the end

yeah me! apparently first babies usually engage really early- like 34 or 35 weeks but not mine! she still wasnt fully engaged 2 days before she was born! i believe its coz iv got really narrow hips and she had a 75 centile head circumference! probably too tight a squeeze for her hehe

My little one didn't engage at all until I was in labour. I was induced at 10 days overdue and thought sure I was going to end up with a c-section as head wasn't at all engaged - assumed I had a dodgy shaped pelvis! Little one's head was 39cm which is quite large I think so not sure if that was part of the reason for lack of engagement
Managed to push him out after just 6 and a half hours in labour suite (1 hour second stage) so it didn't really have any effect for me other than going overdue.
Hope this puts your mind at ease a little.
Sarah x
