We've had Alice Mae on baby rice and mashed bananas for a week or two and I wanted to add mashed peas to this for a bit of variety. Thought I'd boil and sieve a batch and freeze some for later. But on the packet it says 'do not refreeze'! I don't really believe this - do you? I know that it's an issue with meat/chicken/etc as bacteria can be a problem - but peas??

Flip, I never thought of that and ive done it before
Havent had any obvious problems though.

Well, it turns out that you don't get a lot of sieved peas anyway! I put in what would be a couple of adult portions thinking I'd be able to put loads of little pots in the freezer and ended up with only two tiny portions which I've put in the fridge for later today and tomorrow. It's a lot of work for two tiny portions!!

Next time I'll do more and freeze them though.

Thanks!

I do it and my sister does it too. they still taste ok and not had any problems. i think these days all manufacturers put these warnings just in case. its like the " throw away if not consumed in 3 weeks" on loads of jars and stuff.

Oh, I know - so many foods have the 'use within x days/months' on them or 'keep refrigerated' that never used to.

eg Marmite!! Like marmite could go off!!

and Ketchup - never used to have to keep ketchup in the fridge!

But when it comes to Alice Mae I get nervous about things...
