Hi guys. I'm not breastfeeding so planning on taking the formula starter packs into hospital with the already steralised tops. My question is do you need to heat them up or just give them straight away? Prob a really dumb question. Apologies :)

They're ready to go as they are, room temperature. I've used them also. They have a use by time , think it's 2 hours after opening. Found them fab for hospital, no faffing about making them, as at mine you have to take all your own stuff. x

The ready made formula is perfectly fine to give at room temperature which is why it's handy when you're out and about. But it depends what your baby likes. He/she might prefer it warmed a little x

Good to go as is. Best bit of advice I was ever given (as an aside) by hospital staff when we were sent back into hospital after a few days with feeding issues (I had no milk yet and he was dropping weight) was to not warm baby's bottle and to give them at room temperature, whether a pre made carton or home mixed formula. There is no medical need for it and as your baby will generally only 'take' what they are used to, a bottle at room temp is always ready/ good to go and you can't always easily make a bottle warm (think stuck in traffic/out and about with no access to facilities etc...). My MIL was horrified by this fact, but it worked a treat xx

I gave my daughter them at room temp and warmed slightly by putting the bottle in a cup of boiling water for a couple of minutes. I always gave my daughter a mixture of warm and room temp bottles when she was little and she was never fussy and would drink it happily either way :)

ditto ^ ^ with ds was useful as he then took ready made cartons when out and about.

Plus it isn't such of a shock for them to go to cold cows milk at 12 months if they are used to drinking room temp milk / juice etc x
