I came across this video of Tia when she was 4 years old. She'd had her op for grommits and tube clearing a year and a half before. How she is speaking was a vast improvement as she has basically only been hearing language for 18 months and still had some hearing loss. The video is great because I am doing the speech therapy models for her, basically repeating back to her all her frases so she had a model as to what the words should sound like... She also does the sign for play so was using signs to communicate still. Tia speech remained the same until she was 6 when she got sent to a specialist speech therapist, but I thought that it would be good for mums whos kids have speech problems to see how far Tia came in just 18 months from not saying a word, till last year when she was discharged from her speech therapy forever. :) If anyone hass any questions you can pm me :)

and yes it is scary how much they change :rotfl: :rotfl:

Aw bless her - can't view the vid as my internet sucks, but know what you mean as I had the same problem as Tia and had the same proceedures to sort it out. Up until the age of 4 or thereabouts I was a naughty child who wouldn't reply when spoken to, however I learnt to lipread so had very basic speech but was very delayed until about 5.

I also still have hearing problems and always will - it does impact on my speech a little, but only I know - I speak so quick no one notices the mistakes :rotfl:
