do you worry the name you have decided on won't suit them when they are here?

for us, alice was alice from day one. but she was also this little blond hair, blue eyed bundle. if she had been born with dark hair i don't think i could have stuck with alice.

this time around, the image i have in my head is more or less the same - a little blond haired, blue eyed lad. i worry that when he is born the name we have decided on (Lewis) won't suit him... please tell me im not the only person with this worry!!

This is exactly how I feel too.

With Phoebe, I knew that was going to be her name and she suited it perfectly as it is a Greek name and she was all dark skin and hair when she was born. People often ask if she is Greek because she has lovely olive skin. She actually is a quarter Mongolian so that's where it comes from!

But this time around I'm certain I'm having a fair boy. I was red haired as a baby as was his father. I'd put money on him being red or blond and very fair as his fathers first daughter is the image of him.

This has really stumped me for names! I'm liking Reuben but for some reason I picture it on a dark haired little boy. I think maybe because I feel it's quite a Jewish name?? And the onlt other name I love just now is Matthew but again I can't seem that fitting a fair boy???? Maybe I'm just strange! But I'm pretty stuck now if I can't get over it! I think I will have to wait and see what he looks like when he gets here......

I have a name for my little girl .. its Kaelynn Rose .. took me a while to think of it but after deciding on the middle name first i finally came to a decision..

these were my other choices for first names:

- Claudia
- Scarlett
- Sari

Im not worried wether it will suit my little girl but i chose my first childs name and he suits it.. Jason Luke and veryy cheeky too lol

My OH is Called Matthew and is red haired and very fair skinned

Lewis and Alice go together though, as in Lewis Carrol and Alice in Wonderland, so for me I think the names would be fine as they have something in common. What does a 'Lewis' look like? I dont really have any ideas who couldnt look like a Lewis, I dont think it's one of those names where you couldnt suit it.

i hadn't clicked that lewis carrol had wrote alice in wonderland till after we had decided on the name and i decided to google the meaning. i think its a lovely link though :D

I don't know anyone called Lewis, and i don't know anyone called alice. im really hoping it suits him!

Matthew was on our short list as well :)

The thought did cross our minds but we already can't imagine him being called anything else now! We were the same with brody too :D

We had names picked out before I even fell pregnant.
If it was a girl, she'd be Lauren Kate.
A boy would be Lewis David.

Well DD is now nearly 2 yes, she's Lauren Kate.

My eldest (now 13) we named Holly throughout the whole pregnancy. She was due on Feb 6. Everyone kept saying I couldnt call her that as she would not be an xmas baby!!!!

Anyway she arrived on Dec 19, 2 months early, but in the throes of labour I had a 'feeling' that she wouldnt suit Holly. We both liked Louise and once born could see she was def a Louise not a Holly. Weird huh. :?

We chose James if its a lad but I love Liam (OH hates it) and I'm hoping when he is born he won't look like a James and will look like a Liam.

If 'its' even a boy

Well i am pretty sure that Noah is going to have blonde hair and blue eyes like his big brother BUT...

my two oldest sons have the same biological parents and one has BLUE eyes and dark mousy hair and the other has BROWN eyes and blonde hair!!! I don't know how that happened!

I don't think it will matter to me now because i know my baby as Noah whatever he looks like but if it turns out HE is a SHE i will be up the creek because i have no idea what i would call her!

I've known forever (way before i got pg) if I had a boy he would be called Ted - I'm so glad i stuck with it even though some people laughed..as it REALLY suits him!

Our girls are Ellie Victoria and Lydia Victoria.

DH has two children from a previous marriage; Amy Victoria and Luke Nicholas.

DH obviously has a thing for the name 'Victoria' - notice the pattern?

Had Ellie been a boy, she'd been Jamie Nicholas.
Lydia would've been Jack Nicholas.

I was worried about this and i hated people calling her Tally whilst i was pregnant as i didnt want to call her it.

When she was born i spent two days trying to find her a name but she ended up as Tally anyway as it's all that suited her.

When we have another baby i hope to give it a none name, name whilst i'm pregnant (bean for example) so it can be a suprise what we call the baby and i wont worry about it suiting them.

we didnt choose the boys names until they were born. well, benjamin was either going to be benjamin james, or jamie benjamin. secretly, i had already chosen him to be benjamin james.

oliver was either going to be oliver peter, or joshua peter. i did like joshua, but mark said he prefered oliver, and when he was born he suited it so much!

amelia we had chosen for a long while. we were caught unawares with her being 3 weeks early that we hadnt 100% decided on a middle name for her. we will always have family names for middle names for our children, and mark had wanted amy (his grandma) as her first name. i agreed to it being a middle name, but amelia amy didnt sound right together, so we decided to put claire in there too. so she became Amelia Amy-Claire :)
