Zac had bad constipation on Friday and a lot of people have been telling me that SMA Gold is a prime culprit for this, so I have now changed his milk to Cow and Gate Comfort.

I have noticed a few things, and just wanted to check they are normal?

He seems to be taking his bottle alot quicker than he did on SMA, we changed the teats to Medium Avent (3 holes) as they said the liquid is thicker and I thought he may struggle on a number 2 teat. Is this a problem that he is taking it quicker? He doesnt seem any more windy than usual.

Also when he sicks up the liquid is very watery, not like proper 'milk' which is what he was bringing up on SMA. Is there any reason for this?

I have also heard that this milk is for reflux, but is it ok for a baby with constipation problems to take? He seems happy on it so far, and seems to be staying satisfied for longer.

Thanks in advance, just wanna check these things are the 'norm'

jack was gettin watery sick to so i guess its normal!

How long has he been on it? What were your reasons for going on it? Has the watery sick stop now then?

Stanley still possets watery sick quite a lot, I guessed it must be something to do with the formula, but it was preferable to the whole bottles he was chucking back before!

Not sure about the speed thing, maybe Zack is drinking faster now he doesn't feel bunged up?

I'm sure it's only recommended for reflux because it happens to be a bit thicker. they do a specialist one called 'Staydown' for bad reflux so sure all babies would be OK on the Comfort?

Harrison isnt on comfort but hes on the green box of cow & gate and he has watery sick sometimes & as far as i know its nothing to worry about

Im actually thinking this milk that you use, the number one, might be better for Zac.

He doesnt have reflux and he isnt really that colicky I dont think! Its a bit of a pain making up bottles with the comfort too as you have to use hot water and cannot use cool boiled water from fridge and then heat up, such a nuisance.

Going to speak to HV later :)

jacks been one it for nearly week, he was very coliky and constipated but that has pretty much totally gone now. he was crying for an hour after every bottle and before he pooed but now he might have 10 mins in total of crying cos of wind in a whole day!! :D but ive been introducing the green one over the last few days cos like you say its such a pain to make up! he had 4 bottles of the green one and 2 of comfort in the last 24 hours and has been fine so im gonna do one comfort and 5 green tomorrow and then totally switch over. the watery sick has gone down since ive used the green one but he does still bring it up!
