Hi, my lo is six months and now on three meals a day. Aptamil porridge for breakfast, minced chicken or lamb or beef with veg for lunch followed by fruit purée or yoghurt, but I'm not sure what sort of thing to give her for tea? Should it be another meat based meal or just veg purée? I think at six months she can have more variation so just after some ideas of what other people do really.

Also I've read mixed advice on giving eggs because of possible allergy. Do other people give them at this age or wait for a year?

Thanks for any advice x

We did baby led weaning so Leo pretty much had everything from 6 months plus, eggs, nuts etc. I think you only have to wait if you have allergy concerns, if so Eve in the family has allergies. You could try giving toast, sandwiches, omelettes, rice cakes, pasta, etc for tea

We do baby led weaning so DD has whatever we are having, typically
Breakfast-porridge, cereal, pancakes, toast etc with fruit
Lunch-sandwich, wrap, pasta, etc with fruit or yogurt...or both lol!
Tea- meat and veg, often she has last nights left overs as DH isn't home in time for tea every night, followed by fruit, or rice pudding, etc

I try to vary it so she doesn't have the same at two meals, eg too much bread or fruit (worry about the sugars on her teeth)

Xx

Oh forgot the eggs, we gave from 6months as no history of allergies in the family. Make sure they are cooked well all the way through. She loves hard boiled, scrambled and omelettes.
Just thinking of a great website I found for ideas http://mylovelylittlelunchbox.com DD loves all the fritters on there. Xx

Thanks guys. I know I'm a worrier but I'm a bit nervous about giving her toast, rice cakes etc as she doesn't have teeth yet and am scared she will choke! I still purée most things to be safe. Were yours okay having this sort of stuff at 6 months?

Leo is only getting his first teeth now! He did fine. They do really well at gumming stuff and they have a fantastic gag reflex. Although I was on the edge of my seat every time he had a meal. Doing an infant first aid course will make you feel much better, or even just waiting the choking/ CPR videos on youtube. X

Yes that's a good idea as I wouldn't have a clue what to do!

I gave finger foods for tea which really helped hand to eye and developed his chewing. He would have fruit, toast, veg sticks , organix rice cakes etc then a big bottle at bed.

He now has similar at nursery - porridge for breakfast - big cooked meal at lunch and finger food tea about 4pm - often though he will have something like a Shepards pie for tea aswell at 5.30 - greedy tike lol

We started with really soft veg sticks for a week or so but she was soon chomping on toast and rice cakes etc. Babies are very good at clearing anything they can't manage from their throats..I've thought she was about to choke a couple of times but she just coughs it out...then shoves it back in haha!

There's lots of nice baby led weaning sites with ideas on how to get started if you want to build your confidence up a bit first I really love it, it's less prep and so easy to go out and about with no need to purée...definately lots of mess though lol! Xx

I just used my hand blender to chop finely. My LO loved pasta bake so would often have something like that for tea or some soup maybe. I just used to make extra of what we were having, chop it with the blender and freeze into ice cube trays and then I had a variety to choose from. She had roasts, spaghetti Bol, corned beef hash, pies, chilli, but her abs fave was pizza, she would munch on that for ages and always want more with garlic bread too.
