Following on from internet explorer...

Righto - I changed my browser simply enough. I also did a spyware scan and apparently I have threats. Ooer. Anyhoo - they can be cleared with various types of software, all of which cost about £20. Now I don't mind paying if it is worth it - but is it all a con/scam? My usual antivirus is McAfee which comes through my broadband supplier but it hasn't picked anything up? I did a scan through SpywareDetector and they seemed recommended enough by what I can find out.

So, my questions are: should I switch? And to which software? And should an anti-virus sort out the spyware as well or is it worth having a separate one?

I use AVG for viruses and spybot for spyware. Both free.

I sometimes use Ad-Aware if I have something really hard to get rid of. its free too.

i use the same as urchin , although i use adaware and spybot if something is hard to get rid of lol look on download.com as they tell you if its free or not etc
