Someone here MUST have advice on this?

So I had this in my first pregnancy but not until near the end past 30 weeks. I'm only just past 17 weeks at the moment, but I seem to have been congested for coming up to 6 weeks now. I'm beginning to fear that I've unfortunately got this horrible symptom much earlier.

I fly to Malta in less than 7 days and I'm panicking about flying while so congested. Almost all of the suggestions aren't safe in pregnancy and the ones that are aren't safe while breastfeeding!!!

All I can think is that I'll be sat there in agony and maybe my eardrums will explode!

Has anyone got any suggestions on flying with congestion please? So far the only usable one I know of is a saline nasal spray. :(

I was going to suggest airwaves gum but that might need some more research to check it’s safe for when pregnant, or perhaps just a some regular gum to chew as that will help to open your airways.

Ah I suffer from rhinitis anyway and I find sniffing a pot of vicks helps or eucalyptus oil? It's a pain though because once your nose is swollen that's it!

A good way to relieve you ears is to yawn or try to yawn or just open your mouth really really wide. You'll look like a total nutter but it should pop your ears for you

I've tried to do research on the Airwaves gum and can't find anything officially saying either way. Just people warning about the artificial sugars so I might risk this as a one off to save my ear drums.

And I had some vicks so I had a go with that last night. There were no direct warnings on it about it's use in pregnancy apart from get advice from a pharmacist. It did definitely clear my airways but only for the time I was smelling it.

So If I chew this gum while pulling faces and sniffing vicks on the flight maybe I can get through?
Or maybe I'll get arrested for looking insane?

I'll keep an eye out for you in the news!

I had a terrible problem with my nose when I was pregnant with my daughter. We went to Miami when I was 13 weeks pregnant and on the flight I ended up with a really dry blocked nose - it’s hard to describe. It caused me a nosebleed. I got to sit in the crew galley

I hope they move me to first class because I'm scaring the other passengers!

Sterimar spray, it’s the salt water and eucalyptus one. No chemicals or steroids and it’s safe for pregnancy. Bumps off any germs / infections and helps to decongest x
